Hope you all have a super Tuesday and have done those meal plans
LxThank you for the kick up the behind! Good point! Must do some!
I have stayed well clear of the shops and so have had two NSDs Monday and Tuesday - proper, complete NSDs, not just on GC! Plus, have sold two things on fleabay earning me £57.55! They haven't paid yet but still, it's really nice to know that's coming in!
Hope everyone has a great hump day!

Well we got back on Monday from our two week holiday (completely ransacked the kitchen prior to going!) and the other half went shopping yesterday and managed to spend £49.17! We did get quiet a few household items though!
£49.17/£300 Means I have £250.83 left. Really really hoping that I can wack some of that into savings! Still have three weeks to go till payday so you never know!Nessy x0 -
Can I just check your opinion on the following issue:
Next Wednesday it is my turn to make our church Wednesday lunch, including buying all the bits. While I can make soup from my stash of staples and often my own veg (It will be spicy lentil, potato, onion and tomato soup), I need to buy bread, fruit and cheese.
Normally DH and I donate £5 in all when it is someone else's turn, like today, but I am sure I would spend more than £5 to buy the bits and pieces needed to accompany the soup.
I think I should just charge myself £5 and count the rest as a donation, not as a grocery spend, don't you think?
Anyway, today:
Breakfast was overnight oat groats with a few chopped nuts and a splash of maple syrup. All from home stash.
Lunch will be at the church (£5) deducted from my sig.
Dinner will be bean soup, salad and fruit, all already in, salad and some veg free from allotment.
Have a good day! Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Morning.
Well after a ridiculous overspend in October, partly due to hubby being back after 10 weeks away, I HAVE to reign it in for November.
Budget for Nov is £230 please. And I will be back more this month to steal your tips and ideas.
Thank you for running the thread I just now need to make use of itSPC 18 Target £200 /0 -
I am going to back out of the GC as OH keeps picking up the grocery bill at the spmkt and although I protest I can't stop him when it's all done in front of a queue full of customers and I can't keep a proper tally at all. We keep our money totally separate so I have no say in how he spends it. Good luck to all of you.All that clutter used to be money0

Absolutely yes, Caterina - not that I'm any authority! - I have a £50 "entertainments" budget for each month, which sometimes includes things that might be perceived as groceries - beer, cider, popping corn and/or crisps for games or film nights, cinema tickets (a cinema in the town my mother lives in charges a very reasonable £2.50 on weekday evenings) a very occasional take-away - but I decided long ago that I needed a separate "purse" for these things, as I do for fuel; they're a darn sight more optional than groceries! But something I've always felt it was worth actually having a budget for, so that I did have a target to stick to. Strikes me that church-related things would come under a similar arrangement, though DS3 was forever raiding our everyday supplies for things to take to church picnics, BBQs or camps when he was working as the church intern.
ETA: just about to add £9.95 spent on poultry supplies this morning - a sack of mixed corn and a bale of barley straw. The only other pet-related thing should be catfood, but as there are current four resident moggies, even if one of them isn't ours, that's not a negligible expense...Angie - GC Aug25: £106.61/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0 -
I haven`t done this challenge for such a log time but would like to rejoin, if I may please.
I have done a full inventory, freezers and pantry and have decided to use up as much as possible this month and only buy fresh fruit and veggies. Hoping to spend just £10 per week so £40 for me pleaseSlimming World at target0 -
Have picked up some drinks (£8), lunch at the work cafeteria (3.88), and a few bits for tonight and breakfasts (9.38). Going to make a chicken, feta and rice dish with lots of veg, and I found loads of YS ham for pita pizzas a few times this month. That puts us at £21.26/£290.0

Over the past week - spent £21.50 at M's & Sainsbobs - bought lots of veg, tortillas, drinks, bits of fruit etc
Hopefully won't need anything else apart from milk, crumpets and oven lasagna. I am a veggie and he's a carnivore and i don't know how to cook any types of meat and he unfortunately doesn't have the stamina or the patience to cook meaty meals. So we make do the best we can.
Hope all are well.

I've not started off on the best foot. It's been a busy week so far due to work and other things, so I've already fallen off the wagon buying food at work. oops! I think I've spent about £4.50 this week already
I'm going to ensure I take food in with me for the last few days of this working week.
I'm out for dinner tomorrow evening, but I'm unsure if I will count it into this challenge yet. I actually won a free small dish the other week for the place I'm going to, so that shaves some money off the bill. If I can afford to count it in, I will!
May end up getting a small chips at the weekend for fireworks, so will add that in too...0
