Project Mortgage Neutral Begins

Had a small day procedure at the hospital this morning which unfortunately means I need to take the rest fo the day easy which you will gauge from my diary is going to be a tough thing to do. I have saved a few things to watch on the tv, have my car insurance renewal through so I have that to price up as well as my knitting and a book I have been reading for months. It is a glorious day outside so I will do as much of this in the garden as I can and have a few work calls to make this afternoon.

I am just trying to be sensible.I am also going to work my way through the many saved links I have on fb.MFW 2026 No. 7 £400/£5000

I have been with the same car insurance company for quite a while because either the renewal quote has been the cheapest or they have matched the quote. This year's quote is nearly £50 more, it will be interesting to see if they will match it but if not I won't be staying! Now to see if I can get cashback too.

Ooh yes, hopefully your spreadsheet tracks the number of payments left, the amount of interest you have saved against the original term and lets you toggle around with OPsSave £12k in 2025 #2 I saved £14,660.97 of £6000 or 244.35% of my target. The 2026 Save £12k in 2026 thread is here
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I finished the year at £2880.99/£3000 or 96.03% of my annual spend so I am sticking with a £3000 annual budget for 2026

I am going to try and make the most of being outside today as our temperature is due to drop by 10 degrees tomorrow. I have a few bits in the garden that I would like to do although it is not meant to rain when the temperature drops so I may be ok and it might be easier to work out there. I feel it is a bit of a holding time and am not doing much in the garden as I don't know when I might get the landscaping done but I guess I can move anything I have planted so I might see what I can get to put in. I don't think our garden centres are likely to open to walk in visitors like England and Wales but I know some of the local ones are doing delivery so I will look into that. There is a chain of them nearby that are doing a good deal on delivery although they are working on delivery for June at the moment.
