Decision made, spending Christmas with my family and going to Slovenia for a week over New Year. I have never been anywhere by myself so it will be exciting, strange and scary but it is the choice I have made. Now to start planning...

About the holiday news or separation news? Yes to both, spoke to my mum last night about my Christmas and New Year plans and my immediate family know of my situation.

Been a very busy bee today. Moved my clothes into the spare room so I don't feel like I am living out of a bag. Took loads of stuff to the charity shop and tip. Got leak in en suite sorted ad boiler serviced, it may have beena while since it was last done and it seemed it needed the gunk taking out of it
I was going to tackle the Christmas shopping today but the weather has put me off. Going to sort out my list and head out tomorrow or Sunday, I would like it finished fairly soon although that is ambitious seeing as I haven't started it.
Financial review of S&S ISAs next week so need to get ahead and make sure I have everything ready for that.

How to get myself through a possibly tough month...I have 3 fitness type challenges on the go (none that are too tough) and am going to keep an old-fashioned spending diary. I am not going to use it to stop me spending but more for next year to help budget for the festive season.

    So today's tasks are
    1. Complete day 1 of 30 day challenge
    2. Run 5k - advent challenge
    3. Walk 3 miles- virtual challenge

Hi AJ, I’ve just caught up with your thread and I’m sorry to hear about your personal circumstances, even if it’s amicable I know it’s a tough thing to go through.

For your list of how to help get through the next month, could you add in some friends goals? Doesn’t have to be spendy occasions but making sure you get some time to see people can really help get you through tough times.

For December we are planning a few mince pie afternoon/evenings- essentially a casual get together with either mulled wine & mince pies or coffee/tea & mince pies. It means there’s no pressure on anyone for cooking/entertaining/spending on eating out but means some stress free time with friends. Just a thought :)

Great to hear about your new year trip away! How exciting :D
    First home- Oct’16 until June’21: £170.995- Overpayments made £13,784 (25% extra!).
New forever home- Sep’21 £309,449 @ 2.05%. Plan to clear it before 30 years!!!!!!

I like this idea although I don't have many friends to call on like that, that sounds quite sad but it really isn't. This is something I am slowly working on through the different things I do each week but these things take time, especially when you don't have children. I maybe have a warped way of staying in touch with people or not from the way I grew up and my work but I am making an effort to change this and stay in touch with others.

I have an amazing friend and we check up on each other regularly through messenger, I might see if she fancies meeting between our homes.

The biggest thing for me at the moment is doing things that I want to do, this is the thing I am looking forward to most in Slovenia.

After a rather embarrassing financial review of my S&S ISAs the other day when the financial advisor told me it had been 5 years since I had been in I am trying to turn things around and go back to the enjoyable days when I looked forward to making my money work for me. I am looking at maybe consolidating my mini savings pots into one account rather than 5! How do you all manage things like this? Do you have multiple accounts or do you keep it in one and keep track on a spreadsheet? If it is the spreadsheet idea can anyone show me an exaple so I can work out how to set one up please?

I am very proud of myself, it has taken ALL day but I have upgraded the operating system on my m@c. It had been running ridiculously slowly for ages, it has involved numerous back ups, updates and restarts but it is working a little quicker now and best of all I still have everything on here now. Just need to do a final back up and look into the !cloud and what it is all about. All my apps work again now :j
