  • For my part at least I know I will be able to look people in the eye in 20 years time, when the only way to see a free doctor is to spend a day waiting in A&E, employers can fire people at will, and Higher Education is a privilege of the rich who hide in gated communities, that I was one of the people that tried to raise the alarm when there was still some point in doing so.

    Narcissist much?

Very true. But if it were just RT and his friends ruining a party that would be fine. But this war that Corbyn is waging affects many people who need help.

Politics is not black and white. There is a genuine debate to be had about the extent to which the "haves" should help the "have nots" and the role of the state. But that debate cannot happen without a credible advocacy of both viewpoint and the opportunity for one side to moderate the views of those in power or to take power through the ballot box.

Labour is close to the point where it cannot even hope to be elected, let alone make a difference to the lives of those who it claims to want to help. It is they who will be affected by an unelectable opposition.
That is the point there are many of us who think that the extremes of the Tory party must be curbed it's just that a large number of us don't see Corbyn as the way forward more of a hindrance . By the way if my Grammer is bad I'm one of Surreys residents who was failed by the grammar school system.

Grammar schools would be fine if working class children graduated from primary school with the same levels of attainment as their middle class peers, but they don't.

Under the Tories, an 11+ grammar school selection will only serve to ensure that most working class kids are locked out of a route to higher education before they even become teenagers.

This government has already removed EMT payments for the poorest A level students, thereby robbing them of their chance to even apply for a university. It mustn't be allowed to destroy their chances before they even sit a GCSE.

Not that you care about children you don't know, or apparently anyone else at all.

why do poorer children finish primary school with lower attainment than their richer cousins (who also attend state schools?

Why do you say that removal of EMT has 'robbed' poorer children of going to Uni (even though a great number went to UNi before EMT was invented and still go today)?
  • Don't worry, I suspect the final PPR is on the way, then you can all go back to agreeing with each other and complaining that single mothers are robbing you of the the shirts from your backs.

It must really burst your gut to know that for all your raving, when asked simple questions, you have no answer. Explain to us how a Labour Party under Corbyn is going to win a general election. The problem is that the folk you despise so much have votes.

You clearly have more regard for folk like my layabout brother than you do for folk like me, and that's fine, but it is also why Labour is in its death throes.

As for your "agreeing with each other" point, it's just another example of your delusion - everyone is out of step except you!

As for the "single mother" stuff, she can have the shirt off my back once I'm finished with it, but how about her getting it after she has had the shirt off the father's back? I know, that annoying 'taking responsibility and making good choices' stuff again. You really hate that concept, don't you?

Another point on the layabout brother theme.... when I was a student, I took a part-time job and during the summer break I took a full time one. Both jobs were in a shopping centre about 5 minutes walk from our house. My brother was furious, as that didn't quite fit his repeated "there's no jobs" narrative. I asked him if he wanted me to find out if there were any jobs going where I worked. (I already knew that there were.) He told me "no... I wouldn't work in a place like that." Too 'good' to work in a supermarket, but not too good to take the dole for decades, while living at home with no outgoings, even for food.

So, I'll ask again..... explain again how much more cash should have been thrown at folk like my brother? Maybe add how much of my current standard of living I should hand over to him now? After all, just because I worked and invested to obtain it, that's clearly unfair to those who don't have as much. If that's what passes for logic in your mind, good luck. You'll certainly need it.

I hope you aren't ppr'd - some of your stuff is comedy gold.

(Just seen Moby's post.... darn right there is bitterness - I lived in a family that had to put up with an often aggressive, argumentative entitlement mentality and know the harm it can do.)

Right! Enough of this. Busy couple of days ahead. Might look back later tonight - if Rugged can actually provide any answers! :rotfl: Have a good day all! :)

Assigning a priori blame to people in dire circumstances for having made poor life choices, with no actual information to confirm that, while assuming that ones own failures are all down to bad luck, is a recognised psychological phenomena.

One that you might want to look at overcoming however.

I hope you can one day make up with your brother, who regardless of what you think, may have had a different experience of life to you.

Why do you always answer a question with a question?

Why don't you know the answer to basic commonly held axioms yourself?

Why does interacting with you online feel like talking to a repetitive spambot?

    Why Clapton? Why?

Mr Toast, What happens if korbin is toast 2020??

Do you to entrench and find his twin to hopefully win in 2025?
Or do you go find a Tony Blaire replacement and move to the center?

I am aware that many people find it inconvenient that "my lot" are demanding they pay at least as much attention to what the government are doing as to what is going on in TOWIE, and actually take some responsibility themselves.

You see, this is where your attitude is not going to translate into votes. Not being much into politics (especially the correct type of politics) does not make people hateful, monstrous, thick idiots who only watch TOWIE. It just means they're not much into politics.

You claim that posters here live in a bubble and have no idea how others live; I venture to suggest that you are woefully out of touch with the vast swathes of ordinary, mild mannered, law-abiding, middle class, middle income, centrist people who make up the backbone of Britain. Labour desperately needs their vote, and I'm pretty certain calling them names isn't going to secure it.
    They are an EYESORES!!!!

just thought I give toxic toastie an opportunity to explain why children that go to well funded schools in trot dominated councils, perform so much more poorly than in schools where the emphasis is on reading and writing and doing some maths
but as usual, he flunked it although he didn't mention neoliberalism or his hatred of this parents and their generation.

I think that you are kidding yourself, twenty years on I see:

Joe: I have just been sacked, no warning, just sacked after 10 years service.
RT: That is terrible, I actively opposed that law in 2021 and fought hard to stop the Tories winning in 2020. Corbyn would never of done that........
Joe: Corbyn? Who is he? Labour has only got 30 seats what can they do? I am interest in now in 2027.
RT: Well we can campaign for fairer laws and Labour can win in 2030....
Joe: But Corbyn was supposed to stop them doing things in 2020, after the Tories repealed the Human Rights Act and swept aside all that employment law with the other regulalations. You were supposed to stop it in 2025 when the NHS was finally privatised and you started having to pay £50 to see a GP.
RT: But next time our new glorious leader will repeal this pernicious law and restore the NHS to its former glory........
Joe: Why did you not win in 2020 or 2025? Why will 2030 be any different?
RT: The party was reforming, we were having to deselect all those Blairite MPs.....
Joe: Blair? My dad says he won three elections and and made a difference to people like me with all that employment legislation. I want someone to speak for me and make a difference not someone who is making the party great again. I don't give a f*** about the party.....you let us down in 2020 and 2025.

I hope by then you are still looking him in the eye
