I recently watched a cat programme and got some really good facts,
For example, the programme mentioned that cats dislike having the end of their whiskers touched, I decided to change her oblong food bowel which is now longer left to right, as appose to up and down.
The programme also mentioned, for cat hygine reasons, cats prefer to have their water bowel away from their food bowel. Not sure how true this one is, as I know most cat owners keep their food and water bowels together.
what do you think, and any tips to share regarding pet cats?
The water/food receptacle in question is a BOWL not a bowel, hence the remarks.
Takes all the fun out of it, having to explain a punI want my sun-drenched, wind-swept Ingrid Bergman kiss, Not in the next life, I want it in this, I want it in this

Don't ever stare at a cat. They take it as a sign of aggression. Instead send them a slow blink which they interpret as a smile. Also cats don't like it if you stroke them the length of their body to their tail. They will usually walk away from you. They like their heads, particularly cheeks being rubbed. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

I've learnt that pretty much anything any expert says about cat behaviour will be proved wrong by multiple cats.0

Hmmm so the 4 hairy things I have at home are not cats then as all 4 love staring competitions and while scratching them I have to start at the top of he head and finish at the end of the tail.
All cats are different, there no such thing as "all cats like/hate..."
My boys have a water fountain right next to their dry food dish (dry food is always available) and i feed them wet pouches same place.
They have 3 massive litter trays between 4 of them and are happy sharing -none of the number of cats +1 trays indoors as no way I could put 5 n a 2 bed flat.
I never "took time to introduce new cat" as people "recommend" - keeping n separate rooms to start with etc etc. New chocked in wth the old and let them get on.
All of my 4 boys are just fine0 -
One thing DH has noticed is that many cats know who doesn't like them or can't tolerate them (he gets asthma), and make a beeline for them. Their preferred method of getting his attention is to climb up his leg using their claws, ideally when he is sitting at a table and doesn't see them coming ...Signature removed for peace of mind0

Maybe I should just say that cats like it if you do the slow blink. Quite often my two react when I do it and come up to me. Both of mine shudder and walk away if I do a whole body stroke but yes I suppose all cats are different. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0 -

According to the OH, despite having cats around pretty much all his life, he didn't realise it's possible for a human to have a productive full blown conversation with a cat.
The actual conversation went along the lines of;
'Mrrrrrroooouuuuuu' from the stairs,
'What?'
[comes round corner] 'Mrrrrrrrrooooouuuuuuu'
'Yes?' [moves book out the way]
[flumping sound as he landed exactly where the book had been, having had a 5' x 3' space within which to land]
'I know you're tired. What's the problem?'
'Mroop'
'The fan?'
'Mmmfp. Mroop'
'OK' [switches fan off] 'Happy now?'
'uuuuuooooop'
'Yeah. No problem dude. Come on then.'
[Doooffffff as he hurled himself against leg] 'mmmmmffffff'
'Yeah. Night.'
[Cat sighed and went to sleep]I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
Could you just clarify, was it him or you talking to the cat? I'm intrigued ...Signature removed for peace of mind0
