Cat facts I never knew

I have a ten year old moggy which i live with. She usually treats the flat like it is hers, coming and going through the back door cat flap as she chooses.

I recently watched a cat programme and got some really good facts,

For example, the programme mentioned that cats dislike having the end of their whiskers touched, I decided to change her oblong food bowel which is now longer left to right, as appose to up and down.

The programme also mentioned, for cat hygine reasons, cats prefer to have their water bowel away from their food bowel. Not sure how true this one is, as I know most cat owners keep their food and water bowels together.

what do you think, and any tips to share regarding pet cats?

I've dutifully put out a bowl of water each day for 10 years. She hasn't every drunk any of it. I'm well trained.

Probably prefers the not so clean water outside, but at least no chlorine in it.

I think they get most of the water they need from their food. I stopped leaving out water in a bowl as it never gets drunk.

If they start drinking a lot of water, it can indicate kidney problems.

It took me many many years but I have finally been able to train my cat to obey my commands.

If I want her to jump up on to my lap while I'm eating I have to shout 'Get Down', if I want her to roll over on to her back it's 'Sit' and if I want her to ignore me and walk straight out the room it's 'Come Here'.

Never fails.

I am not sure if i agree about not providing water. I much provide water and it is not drunk, than no water at all, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

The thing about the water not being near the food is true! We had a bowl of water out for our 2 fur babies next to their food for years. It never got drunk. One of them developed a water infection. The vet suggested putting water in a different part of the house. Like good cat servants we put a bowl of water out upstairs. Both cats ALWAYS drink from the bowl upstairs. We moved the one downstairs just away from their food, the other side of the room. They now drink from that one too!

Dont trust cats ..ever .we befriended next doors rescue cat and for a few months it came into the house ,was fed and stroked and it made itself at home,scratched the carpet to f*** and it even slept with us .A couple of days ago it dished out a couple of deep slashes in my partners wrist for no reason at all. One minute it was purring next minute slashing out!
Cats live in their own world and its not our world.It would have its own reason I suppose to going into attack mode but its too complicated for us to understand a cats language..play safe , don t have a cat, dogs are much more reliable than these miniture Lions

My cat has no issues with his water bowl next to his food. In fact he is drinking from it as I type this.

He does have water outside in the garden, but its collected rain water in a bucket, he occasionally drinks it. His favourite tipple seems to be carnation cream but he only gets that treat occasionally.
