You need to have one to discover the answer for yourself. Well you know, some of us have it and some of us don't.0 -
No-one cares what Credit Card you have. If you had 'real' money, you wouldn't be using CCs at all.0

Like the Barclaycard Amex? Or what about the MBNA Everyday Amex? Or how about the Lloyds Bank Amex? "Naff" is a good descriptive word here. I'm actually a big fan of Lloyds Banking Group but I'm a masochist
If it has a centurion on it it's good.
Lastly, little known is that the travel benefits including the Priority Pass for which the Amex Platinum is famous is available with a pre-paid VISA card - T24 Black.0 -

I'm quite sure the money I pay them at the end of the month are real enough
Back to the point, CCs are just a tool. In 2016 there's little status left in using one.0 -

Whilst I do have some non Amex issued Amex Cards like the MBNA Everyday Amex for foreign use these were not the high end Amex cards that I was referring to. Centurion, Platinum (charge card not everyday credit card) and Gold are all more 'prestige' than those that you carry.
Whilst I do hold and have held a number of high end cards I do so for the benefits rather than snob factor but ever now and then it is good to put the hoi polloi in their place Anthorn....0 -

Quite incorrect really:
1) Utilise interest free periods on credit cards whilst money earns interest or is invested elsewhere
2) Reduction in the overall costs of goods through cashback and other incentives
3) Additional protection provided by the credit card company0 -

You missed my point about the centurion. People don't know or they don't care. All they see is the centurion and that's what makes an Amex "posh" to get back to the thread.
And you missed my original point which was questioning why you were 'wafting about' your Amex Green Charge Card or your Every Day Platinum Credit Card?0 -

Half right. People who can't get a credit card want one and it's the holy grail for those repairing their credit history. But for those who have their choice of credit card it's the most boring subject ever.
Within credit cards there is a hierarchy with what is most desirable at the top and the naff at the bottom. But is an Amex charge card really any better than a Creation credit card? Going back into the mists of time Amex along with Diners Club were used for business expenses and not consumer expenditure.
It's a world of reputation and perception where reality takes a back seat.0
