Everything is fairly straight and clean here, but I am not in a rhythm with housework at all. My whole life is not in a rhythm either. I'm going to really think it through over the weekend, and sort myself out! I think it's since I have moved, I'm still a bit unsettled, though not at all unhappy. Does anyone here have a set time of day for housework? I met a b and b owner once, who also worked and had children, amazing lady. She said she just did any tidying or cleaning the very moment she saw it, the opposite of procrastination. Admirable. I might try that. I'm in an unusual situation with being in a house where everything is ok, and there is no backlog, and I'm very keen not to get in a muddle ever again, so I suppose I'm looking to set it up right, aiming for prevention rather than cure. It's new ground for me!!A bit of grin and bear it, a bit of come and share it
You're welcome we can spare it, yellow socks0 -

I bought all the official stuff for my son, only to discover that it was quite usual to buy the jacket and tie official, and the rest supermarket. I wished someone had told me first. The official list was from one department store right down to item code numbers.
Everything has the school logo on apart from the gym shorts and white shirt.. her school is really strict, they even have approved school shoes list and they'll get sent home if they don't have correct uniform on. AT least she keeps it clean so I only have to buy one blazer, tie, cardi & skirt... she wears it all week, my son on the other hand is a typical boy so he's is daily clean one, but he's still in primary so get the cheaper stuff until next year that is  He has two sets of everything, which next year will cost a fortune, I'm trying to get him to stay cleaner...Grocery Challenge - Aug 407.97/£320 - NSD 3/5

I think the B and B lady has it right. Do it as soon as you see it prevents build up. Or if you see something and can't do it immediately make your own lists.
I feel so physically tired today after a hard day at work yesterday. Have a wedding at 1pm - haven't decided what to wear - shouldn't complain about having a choice
Not sure how I am going to cope with the long day and a lot of standing - sure I'll manage once I've a glass in my hand;)
Away to find my list and a little flying before it's time to get ready0 -
Morning,
On cuppa #2 here <yawn>
Forecast is fine and warm, so WM is on. DD going to ballet in an hour, DS and I are heading to bee n queue after we've dropped her off. I had to bin my new stretchy hose - it split completely. Think I only managed to successfully use it twice - every other time I got a drenching! But, I've still got the original h0selock reel attached to the back wall so we're going to buy some connectors and a new gun for that and possibly a sprinkler. Kids might get their swims on later if it's very hot...
In reasonable shape here if you ignore the piles of unloved donateable stuff in the DR, and my desk. I've a suitcase and a chair-bed to put in the loft too.
Had a bit of rain overnight, ceiling in conservatory damp but can't tell if it's because it was already wet or if yesterday's jobs haven't worked. I suppose I need it to dry out then rain again really.
Couple of baskets of bits to sort through with the kids. Happy meal toys and so on. Do you just bin them? I suppose they wouldn't sell in a CS? We have a complete set of the angry birds ones... Gah!Bossymoo

Morning all
I said on Thursday if only come back when I had achieved something. I did some ironing. That will have to do. It is a shame I am going through one of those "getting nothing done" times. We are going away in the caravan in about 2 hours. I have not packed, house is tip, and here I am sat on my bottom saying hello to you lot! Oh dear.
Tightening if I stopped to clean something or tidy something every time I noticed it needed doing, there would be no time to eat or sleep! At least I might lose some weight.
Valli you must be a great support to your sis. how is she doing?
Right, two hours of superflying and packing coming up. If we get away at eleven it will be some sort of miracle!0 -

All the recent talk of kondoing has got to me :rotfl:
For the past 6 months I have had a plastic crate full of family history papers (mainly printouts of BMD registrations, census returns, parish register entries, etc) sitting next to my desk - I had dragged them out of the loft to sort them. Years ago I had started filing them and got as far as family groups based on my 8 great-grandparents' lines
Yesterday I sorted all my finance files, shredded unwanted paperwork dated before April 2010, and moved papers relating to now defunct bank accounts (I moved my current account in April and change my ISA providers nearly every year) out of the study bedroom into the loft. They all fit into one A4 box, 8 inches deep. Each bundle of papers is labelled with the date when it can be shredded. (Am I OCD or just well organised?) I was left with a big sack of shredded paper (but no room for it in the compost bin) and 2 empty lever arch files to add to the 6 already in the study cupboard.
It was then only a 10-minute job to slip the packs of family history papers into the 8 files in the cupboard, ready to break down into smaller family units.
Result - a square metre of carpet is now visible! And I've even put the crate away on top of the wall unit in the utility
I need more bookshelves in my study for when I start my course, but the only spare bit of wall is 30 cm wide. I have explored various options and decided to get a cheap white bookcase from the Swedish shop and cut down the shelves to the width I want (the top shelf fits inside the two uprights, rather than sitting on top, so there won't be the problem of an unfinished edge). DH will have to take me to Sweden tomorrow - I can't fit a 2.2m box in my little car!
Today DH is out on the railway again. I am going to
- shower and dress
- S&S bathroom
- write 2 letters
- do WMx2
- clean "workmen's loo" thoroughly
- empty DW
- go shopping
- go to a local Open Gardens event this afternoon
- do some reading
- watch another episode of a history series on DVD (college course preparation)
- do QHI
- make lasagne for tea tonight nom-nom
DS1 has just phoned. Good thing I had planned lasagne - he is bringing DDiL1 and DGD1+2 here for tea tonight, and they will also collect Marigold. She hasn't laid a single egg for mebut she has been good company

Afternoon all.
I've had a lie in today, I feel better for it, but Zack wasn't impressed :rotfl: Plans for today are to clear paperwork. I've found all my old OU coursework and since its musty & damp I'm going to have a really good sort out of it, scan then shred or recycle it. I'm hoping to start making a dent in old benefit papers etc as well but I'll have to wait and see how long this paperwork takes first. DD is supposed to be home tonight, but I have no idea what time except "after tea" so I have at least 6 hours to get things done.
WM is on with the quilt from the livingroom which Zack likes to snooze on/under. I'll start putting his blankets and that through next, then the cleaning cloths as its a nice sunny and warm day here so they should dry pretty quick.
Catch you all later :wave:Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -
LW you can get a plug that turns of the pc after a certain time apparently. X
I am getting a mite !!!!!! off at present - now, I have no objection to him looking at the news online, and the Dilbert cartoons, and the other weird comic sites, and the other rubbish he seems to like (thankfully no p0rn - I most assuredly would NOT stand for that); but I do get a bit annoyed to go and do some Flying myself, and come back into the lounge an hour later to find the pc still chugging away and DH has nodded off in his chair!!!!!. :mad:If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
No flying yesterday as we had Mr N's birthday day in London. Had a great time at various exhibitions, theatre etc. Think the Greek dinner was more or less set off by my step count.......Nice of them to put calorie count on the menu but shame I didn't see it before I made my selection and had eaten it.................oh well he promises not to have another birthday for a while.
Today so far have
- put dinner in slow cooker,
- taken Mr N and MIL to hospital to have her cataract done, hung round there a bit,
- dropped in to get a paper
- watered flower arrangements in church, checked village mag to find we don't have a service in our village for 2 weeks so brought one arrangement home. MIL can take it when she goes, although she'll be staying with us tonight after her op.
Lunch next. Lots more to do but suspect I won't finish it all. Friends are coming to dinner this eve so need to concentrate on that side of things.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.0 -
