problem with leather steering wheel on seat leon
Bought a brand new seat leon in march.
the leather steering wheel has got creases in it as if the there is too much leather (it was smooth at time of purchase) these appeared about a month ago. with just over 1000 miles on the clock
the garage has some pics and sent them to seat technical
i have just had this response
After a few emails between myself and SEAT technical, I have finally got an answer from them to confirm your query about the steering wheel issue you have experienced.

Unfortunately, they have replied with the outcome that the steering wheel is not covered by the warranty with this issue outlined.

If we can be of any further assistance, please do not hesitate to get in contact.

what is my next course of action.
There has to be a fault with the steering wheel leather there cant be any other explanation

Is it a fault in manufacture or workmanship (covered)? They say no.
Is it a wear-and-tear fault (not covered)? They seem to be saying yes.
Post a pic, let's see how bad it is.0 -

not sure how to post a pic.
wear and tear after 1000 miles and 4 months ? we have had many leather steering wheels and never had one wear at all.
when is it up to me to prove it is a manufacturing fault rather than seat proving it isnt
it is getting worse as where the leather is "ruching/folding" up it is starting to wear through0 -
Stick it on an image hosting site, such as photobucket, imgur, tinypic etc and copy the link.not sure how to post a pic.

Remember your rights are with dealership, not the manufacturer.0 -
As above, they are claiming it is wear and tear (not covered) and you are claiming it is faulty (covered). I would suggest you find as many people as possible with leather steering wheels and photograph them, with a note of age and mileage. Do the same to your own, and present that to the dealership.
My MX-5 has a leather steering wheel, and after 17 years and 90k miles the leather is smooth and shiny (inevitably) but still where it should be and perfectly useable. Yours has a fault; you just need the evidence to prove it.If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.0 -

here is one pic.
I think i may be better posting on the consumer rights board though0 -

the lines on the pic are raised although they may look like cuts.
the leather isnt split anywhere (yet) but it feels horrible and those raised parts will wear through very quickly i think.
it is only the top section of the wheel affected the rest is a perforated leather
the car is a leon FR0 -
That looks incredibly minor, far more minor than I was expecting.
You're five months into a three year warranty - see how it develops. It's flagged on their records, anyway.
(1,000 miles in four months? Seriously? At that rate, you'll do 9,000 in three years...)0 -
I think you'll likely to struggle getting anything for that at the moment. As posted, I'd keep an eye on it and if it gets worse then take it back up with them.

It might be worth joining and posting on the SEAT owner forums?0 -

I don't agree that it's minor, it feels a lot worse than it looks. As for it being flagged they have said it isn't covered under warranty
As for the mileage , why the need for the seriously question
We have 2 cars one does 30000 a year this one does between 3 and 5 but not sure why it is relevant0 -

They have only seen pics at mo, it looks and feels much worse in the flesh so to speak , am going to take it in next week.
I have posted pics on a seat forum
I really want to know what my rights are and who with.0
