Hi everyone,
Can I please join in with this challenge? I’ve never done anything like this before but will give it a bash
These are my goals…..
Cut the chaff
… on food: not by deprivation but by replacing one ‘baddie’ with a ‘goodie’. I had a baby 4 and half weeks ago and since then my ‘bad’ food habit has been not eating 3 meals a day. I’m looking after the wee man on my own and naturally he does that thing of waking up when I’m thinking about preparing some food or just about to sit down and have a munch and I can’t even offload him to anyone! So for August I would like to eat 3 meals on as many days as possible
… on wants v needs: each time you don’t buy a ‘want’ keep a tally of money not spent and add it all up at the end. Sounds good to me and as an extra at the end of the challenge I’ll transfer a payment to my credit card of what I’ve added up
… on exercise: make a plan and carry it out. Focus and make it count. I’m doing a walking challenge with my work colleagues and I’ve not even reached the recommended target of 10,000 steps a day. By the end of the month I’d like to have achieved this
… on screen time: just 1 hour per day for leisure. Will bury myself in some books. I’m doing a challenge to read 65 books this year and I’m 5 behind schedule at the moment
… in relationships: reduce time you have to spend with toxic people, those that drain you; nourish the good relationships and put time and effort in to them. Spend time with my son, see my friends C & V at least twice in August and go to at least 2 mother and baby groups
… on spending: this links to wants v needs. 15 NSD please. Hopefully I can do this!
… in health: we all have niggles (the older we are, the more we have!) Be proactive about them Not sure about this, will have a good think……
... in possessions: we usually have far too much stuff that clutters up our physical asurrounding and our mental state. Look at this objectively: if you do not love the item and find joy in it, then let it go! Donate, recycle, sell, throw away or return 31 things
Not sure if this is the 'right' way to approach this challenge, feel free to correct me if I've misinterpreted it wrongly!

I'm not doing too bad as I am watching what I eat and have set myself the challenge in July-August if giving up Crisps and Mayonaise (two of my downfalls). I have noticed I don't seem to always have my 5 a day so will make a concentrated effort to reach this each day.
… on wants v needs: each time you don’t buy a ‘want’ keep a tally of money not spent and add it all up at the end.
This is a great idea! I have already made a spreadsheet for it. If it works for me I may keep doing it.
… on exercise: make a plan and carry it out. Focus and make it count.
I will commit to running 3-4 times a week and going to football practise. I will also try to go swimming at least twice in August. I also bought a groupon for 15 exercise classes at a local gym so I will aim to do all them in August.
… on screen time: just 1 hour per day for leisure.
Aaaargh! This will be so so difficult. I spend all day on this alone! I will defnitely aim to stick to this as I have a lot of selling to do, jobs to apply for and maybe do some serious writing. So I won't count any of them as using a computer for 'leisure' but coming on here is definitely leisure. Will aim to check once at Lunch time for half an hour and once in the evening.
… in relationships: reduce time you have to spend with toxic people, those that drain you; nourish the good relationships and put time and effort in to them.
I am very blessed to not have toxic people in my life, but do have a few strange people on facebook so I may do a cull. Also I will instead make more of an effort to keep in contact with my good, beloved friends and family.
… on spending: this links to wants v needs. 15 NSD please.
I am aiming for 20.
… in health: we all have niggles (the older we are, the more we have!) Be proactive about them.
I seem to have picked up some injuries through running and haven't been giving them the time to rest so I will listen to what my body needs, not what I want.
... in possessions: we usually have far too much stuff that clutters up our physical asurrounding and our mental state. Look at this objectively: if you do not love the item and find joy in it, then let it go!
I believe this relates to the KonMari method of thinking, which I am a fan of, so will look into this properly. I do want to clear out my spare bedroom and also sell things so this all goes hand in hand.
Make each day count towards the goals that are important to you. Do something every day that takes you one step closer to one of them, and tell us about it.
I commit to-
Starting a blog and writing 3-5 times a week on it.
Looking after my body, taking care of it but also challenging it.
Following my running plan
Become even closer to finding a job
Budget for every day’s activities. Look ahead. Plan what is going on. Set realistic limits.
Will spend some time doing this later today.Debt Free Stage 1 - Completed 27/08/2020

Hello!!
As a new mum your health is very important, especially if you're doing it alone. Your goal could be ensure you go to your 6/8 week PN check. Eating is also part of being proactive about your health - as is attending mum and baby groups (possibly good for mental health) so you seem to be well on the right track
Don't stretch yourself too much, though - be kind to yourself

I've just lost a post - my own stupid fault but so annoying.
Trying again - my goals:
Out with crisps and chocolate; in with bananas and apples!
Will total up what's not spent on wants and overpay something
Will begin couch to 5k running program
Will spend no more than 1 hour daily web surfing
Will spend more quality time with family; cannot completely avoid the person that drains me but will find ways of coping with my interaction with her.
Will focus on my emotional health; depression has got the better of me quite often this year; time to start fighting back!
Will work on a plan of action to get back into work and on finding a new interest
Will have the first of my NSDs tomorrow
Will declutter at least one item per day
Can't wait to get started!:)0 -
swimming - I echo what greent said - you have just given birth woman!!!! You have enough on your plate without forcing in other things, just to fulfil every criteria here. We hope to hear about a healthy happy baby + mum.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0
