I have to book at least a week in advance to get my hair cut.
I just turn up during my lunchhour for my short (two back and sides, four on top) style. Sometimes have to wait a few minutes.

Frankly this sounds like just the last straw and been waiting to happen for a long time. GOOD FOR YOU.

Go, start afresh, short hair often works well, but who cares? It's time to do this for YOU not for what someone else things!

Ah, but the OP is talking about a complete new look.

She's having a revenge 'do, no? So I expect she'd go somewhere spendy and exclusive.

    Agree with Detroit on this.

Does not ring true in that timescale. Anyone would need a couple of days to come to terms with the news even if there was no love left in the relationship.

Managed to get a property and furnish it right down to teaspoons. Whats wrong with taking some from the marital home and splitting the crockery etc?

Also managed in 2 days to spring the news on 2 kids who dont live at home and make all these momentous decisions.

    All a bit odd.

I upped my hours at work 4 years ago to ..well basically pay there Uni fees so they didnt start there working life saddled with Student Loans etc

What a shame you did this - haven't you read anything Martin says about Student Loans?

Otherwise than that point, I can't understand why you stayed with this man for so long.

University fees for two stepchildren over the last four years would be in the region of £60k for tuition fees alone, never mind maintenance.
I'm not surprised the OP needed to take on more hours at work.

She must be very well paid.

Maybe that's why she's managed to bag a highly desirable property without credit checks or references. She must have paid all the rent in advance.

    Ok, i'll stop now.....

My brother did that when he came back from several years working in the US, paid six months rent at £1700/mo on a central London flat (perhaps a dozen years ago, so rental cost would be much higher today) up front. Quelled any concern the landlord or agent had about affordability / lack of recent credit history straight away.

Then I will suspend my disbelief and open my mind!
