Thanks Lynne, that is a good idea. Youtube and Google are great!
So i have (hopefully) done my last food shop of 2016.
I've been thinking about things i want to do (financially) in 2017 and apart from the most obvious (clear my debt) i also wan to concentrate on chipping away at the food budget.
I must be able to get it below £100 a week. Even if it's just £90 a week, that's an improvement.0 -
YS is your friend for that goal. I find that is the cheapest way. Buying YS and planning around that. We spend around £70 per week on 2 adults, 1 8 year old (who has an increasing appetite) so I'd class him as a half adult head portion wise, a 14 month old so nappies etc & 1 cat." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

My aim is about £80. Both boys eat a lot, as they are 16 and almost 13, so at that age.
I already do a lot of cooking from scratch, meal planning etc. But it can be really hard when the kids dont fancy what is on the menu. Especially my 16 yr old. He can be really funny with texture of foods, which can change from week to week and sometimes every few days.
However, i am sure it's manageable..i just have to learn how.
I am just about to write out my budget for the week. And also a rough meal plan.0 -
If you can get to the shops at mark down time you could buy up all the things your boys like for cheap and that would push your costs right down." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

Remember it well with teenagers, one week they will eat a certain food the next week it's off the menu. Want to lower my weekly budget and stop hoarding food. Now it's just me, DH and Ds3 but still shop as if my other two sons where home. X:j Debtfree and and staying that way.:j3-6 month emergency fund, No.61 £140.000

Merry Christmas everyone!
It's lovely spending our 1st Christmas in our new house
The boys are not at all bothered by having a much smaller pile of gifts this year. My youngest is really happy with his phone (i got it for £99 instead of £160) and other bits and bobs.
Oldest son is still asleep! He did try to wake up earlier, but gave up after about 5 mins and went back to sleep
Got the Christmas music on, had chocolate for breakfast, so everything is going to plan0 -
Afternoon All
Well, the frugality started yesterday, no mucking about for me. I have big financial plans for 2017 and cannot wait to get stuck in.
So, the past few days i have:
-Made 2 lunches out of leftovers. A tub of fresh soup, some leftover rice and some frozen sweetcorn. Mixed it all together, heated until really hot, and put some vegan mayo on top. YUMMY!
-Went sales shopping and spent £0. Couldnt find what i wanted, shops were too busy, it was too hot and noisy, so came home empty handed.
-Not been food shopping. At all. Not even for bread and milk.
-Written what i will name 'The Epic Budget' for January :rotfl: It includes what i need to save, my regular expenses, how much i should be putting towards debt, balances before and after payments have been made.
