Hi, yes, I'd found out it was a school lunch recipe, and that was because when I tried to find a recipe, all I found at first was one that gave me enough to feed the entire mixed infants.. where I managed to find a more domestic interpretation is lost in the lists of time. It is not to my taste but I have succumbed to repeated badgering at work.

I can't remember having it at school, perhaps it was invented later.

Well done z Speky, that sounds good, hopefully they will compromise on the salary thing.

JackieO you are right, I am not in HR but I suspect that contravenes employmentioned legislation. If he damages his back as a teenager, he could have lifelong problems.

You were quite right and that man wants reporting at the very least.

    Csarina

I hope your DH is home soon and feeling better.

For the last three days something has been tripping the circuit board. I eventually narrowed it down to the boiler or the large freezer which we have had for ten years. Fortunately the builder came round this morning and gave me a lift to pick a new smaller freezer. I took advantage of the sales and saved about £50.

Old freezer is now empty and food put away. Had oven baked fish for lunch and not sure what to have tonight as it depends if one of dds pop round. Just crossing my fingers that electrics are now sorted out as it gets quite stressful.

    Speky

Well done on the job offer :j

    Hugs to all.

  • Well done to SPEKY!!

Welcome to the thread Hollysnan. Nice to "meet" you!

Despite a forecast to the contrary it has chucked it down most of the day! That meant we have been housebound with the 3 DGDs all day! I am shattered!! DD should be here to pick them up in about an hour and then I suspect it will be time for a nana nap! The tidying up will be put on hold!

Enjoy the rest of the day folks x

Congratulations Speky - it's such a confidence boost when this happens. Hope the new company come up trumps on the pay front.

JackieO- that's just not acceptable! You did quite right in encouraging your DGS to leave. It's a shame for him though but at least he's not being exploited now.

Csarina- hope your OH is on the mend soon.

    Welcome Hollysnan. :j

Despite a very early start I've been busy all day and just sat down. The bedding has been washed and dried (very sunny and blowy here). I've made two different lots of soup (butternut squash again and a roasted cauliflower & sweet potato one); made a large amount of sausage with kidney bean type stew and a pork loin stew with cannelli beans and peanut butter - that turned out too spicy which is why I've added in peanut butter. So, eight portions of soup and eight portions of protein based meals.

Now I have to find space in the freezer for them all. Tomorrow I'll make some more meals from meat in the freezer.

No idea where I got the motivation from though I've thoroughly enjoyed myself. Thank goodness for a dishwasher!

We had rain over on the coast until 11ish, with blazing sun since 1ish. Was pleased the sun came out, some neighbours are getting married this afternoon and it's much nicer when the sun shines!

    Thanks everyone.

My heart was racing when I asked but I thought, you don't ask then you don't get. Plus, it's a sales job so maybe they'll appreciate the negotiation. I'm not trying to be stubborn about it however the job is further away from home, more than double the distance, so my petrol spend per month will go up in line with this and I merely wanted to be covered for that.

We said we'll catch up again on Monday morning, 8.30am, so I'll update you all then, hopefully with good news.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone :)
  • Well I had a nice time with my friend. Called in to see OH on the way home, he is to stay in over the weekend, they need to have him stabilized which he is not at the moment. He had a bad night, the chap in the next bed arrested, so a full crash team, they moved him into the corridor and then into the next bay. He said it brought back the horror of Nicholas dying last year.

I put washing out before I went out. The black clouds were scudding across the sky, I managed to get home and take it in before the rain came.....3 drops and it stopped. I now have a couple of things to iron.

Will go in tomorrow afternoon, Sunday I am going in Sunday lunch time, there is somewhere I want to go on the way. I will stay for about 45 minutes and then come home. We both struggle a bit if I stay any longer. I have packed the bag for tomorrow with the things he wants taking in.

    Just cooking my supper.
