  • Morning lovely,

Tackling the NUBA sounds like a good idea.

Well done on the meal plan and grocery shopping, that's one area I need to tackle, I plan to get sorted once I get the bigger freezer up and running.

    Have a great day xx
  • Well done on keeping the food shop within budget. £250 is good for 5 of you.

    Morning,

I had to buy some milk yesterday so it wasn’t a nsd but I was given £11 and two free stamps from my parents ( stamps not as random as it seems as I needed them). Not spending and looking at the spreadsheets is going well, I’m not thinking of debt as a whole as much. I’m just trying to focus on trying not to spend. The blog that I read regularly don’t allocate budgets for anything as they say along the lines of it could encourage you to spend more if you think I still have £20 left in my entertainment budget. I can see this being exactly the case. So my aim is to spend as little as possible apart from the essentials, this doesn’t mean I’ll never eat out etc but on a regular basis I’m trying not to spend. Yesterday when I went to get milk I was tempted to get doughnuts from the bakers but I didn’t as I thought of the money. I’m being very disciplined and so is my dh!

    Have a lovely frugal day.

Good plan to watch every spend if it works for you. I can see how the pots thing could encourage some to spend. I am quite happy to leave money in the pots if we get to the end of the month and there is still money left but I have had a lifetime of financial discipline ;)

Well done on not buying the donuts - I have very little willpower when I see things like that haha.
I think everything works differently for different people and I really like seeing that in the diaries. Trial and error means people find what works for them - I'm still very early on in my journey so haven't yet discovered what works best for us yet. I currently feel safer knowing I'll have the little pots for different expenditure but will still try and keep spending from them to a minimum because my thinking is whatever is leftover at the end of the year can always go towards debt.

    Morning,

I had another nsd yesterday. I am going to see friends today so it won’t be a nsd as I need to buy something to bring. I did get given another £4 yesterday so think I will put money I get given in a pot towards summer holiday money.

It really is great not thinking of the debt as a whole a lot less depressing! I’m just focusing on that Nuba.

This constantly mentioning frugal has gone against me, anytime I mention buying something my dh constantly reminds me that we are meant to be frugal!!:rotfl:

    Have a lovely frugal weekend.

    Morning,

I was in the mood for a McDonald’s last night but I resisted. When we go to the friends that we saw yesterday due to the distance we in the past many times would go to the drive through but not last night instead I got back and put a pizza in the oven. I did spend some money at savers on some needed toiletries. I’m going to pop into Sainsbury’s ( as I have a gift card) to buy some milk and fruit.

I made another £20 payment on the Nuba last night. I also realised that this month we have no council tax to pay ( every year I always think it’s Feb and March) so I will pay some more off the Nuba using the money allocated for Council tax but I can’t use all as I hadn’t allocated enough for fuel so will use some for that.

    Have a lovely frugal day.
  • Well done on resisting McDonald’s and good news on having the extra council tax money. If you need more leeway in your budget later on in the year you can ask them to let you pay council tax for 2018/19 over 12 months to reduce the monthly amount.

    Morning ,

Just a quick post as I’m not feeling great. Today I need to check the finances and make an extra payment on the Nuba with the no Council tax month. I need to redo my meal plan and look at cheap healthy recipes.

    Have a lovely frugal day.
