I balance transferred £2500 towards the end of last year but the rest has been paid off from my earnings.

  • That is really good. Keep plugging away at it. How are you coping with the increased minimums to Barclaycard now?

This month is the first month where dh’s minimum is at the higher rate but we have no council tax. The getting rid of the tutor, reduced swimming rate and the amount we have paid off over the last couple of months has made it a lot easier. I think the shortfall is under £300 but that doesn’t include me earning anything .

    Hi there
I have been following along with your story but myn computer packed up and it is an absolute pain to post on my phone.

    just a few observations.

You mentioned early on that you don't have a tenancy agreement as the landlord had no idea what was happening with him so couldn't give you one. I wonder if this does not put you in a very tenous position. Can you check this out with the CAB if this is still the case?

Re your daughter. I definately knew what i wanted to do at 16, and again at 17 and again at 18 and again at 19. LOL. I didn't have the confidence to really go for what my dream job is, though I think I would have done OK. My point being that indecision is not the be all and end all. The important thing is to get decent grades at whatever she chooses at A level. Then she has the option of uni, or some form of on the job training, and not just apprenticeships.

I also wonder if she has some issues that are the same as you ie being anxious etc. Is that possible or is she a very different personality from you? I hope this isn't the case, but it is something to consider. Some children though are naturally introverted. And the friends they make now don't necessarily stay for ever either. I managed to stay in contact with a few friends for the first year of uni, but then the friends down in my uni town became more important and they are the friends i still have today.

Re the job. Good luck with balancing that. Have you thought about doing admin online, ie virtually. You have to be a bit careful who you sign up with but this might be the ideal way of bringing in some more money. But the job i did for 10 years started off being min wage and I ended up leaving as a middle level manager. So don't write off jobs where you are only making a slight positive, as you are proving you are employable to your next employer as well as the one you get a job with.

What qualifications do you have? Can you do some free online courses to sharpen up your CV a bit?

    good luck

Thank you so much for taking the time to post.

We have a rolling contract, so our original terms are still in place apart from the notice period.

I have been trying to encourage my dd to focus on her grades now and not worry about whether she wants to go to uni etc.

I think she prob does have anxiety and lacks confident especially in the last couple of years.

I have applied for lots of minimum wage jobs. I applied for another two yesterday. I thought about virtual pa as my friend does it a bit but you are up against a lot of ppl and with the company she is with you have to bid to get the job. I also think it would do me good working outside of the house.

I have GCSEs , a-c in maths and English plus a few other subjects. My plan is when my youngest starts nursery I’m going to do some admin courses to put on my cv.

    Morning,

I managed to do everything on my list plus lots of paperwork. Today I’m aiming for a more relaxing day as I had a stomach ache all day yesterday. I did spend money as I went food shopping and dh went to the pub ( first time this year).

    Have a frugal day everyone.
  • Hope you feel better soon xx
