But you can teach 30 big hairy scary teens? Your stress levels must be bullet proof after that:rotfl:What is the quote?...

I do confess that I often feel very stressed. But it goes in peaks and troughs." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

Hi All
Have been in a bit of a grouch today. Nothing serious just that feeling you get sometimes when you aren't getting any time to yourself. OH had to go out to a meeting last night which is so rare I can't remember the last time it happened. I loathe and detest trying to do bedtime for both kids on my own as poor DS suffers. He is used to at least 30 minutes of reading time per night and although I try when it's just us, his sister gives him no peace. Anyway by the time DH got home at 9.30 DD was still up as she had not had her nap till 4pm. She is completely out of routine because of the holidays so it's useless trying to put her down at 7 when she's still crazed with energy. Ah well.
Today DH is WFH but I had a viewing to do. Walked over with DD and all went well so that's booking two confirmed once money arrives. But on the way back DD decided she wanted to come out so I ended up carrying her and trying to push the buggy for about 2 miles. Bit much.
Got home and still had the food shop to do, then get home, empty DW, WM, hang wet washing, put away dry, all before lunch.
DD still hasn't had her nap today despite me trying. So the routine from last night is likely to repeat. Trouble is it means I'm literally on duty 24/7 which is guaranteed to put me in a bad mood. I'm an idiot as well, because I never say at the weekend "oh I'm going for a coffee, look after the kids for an hour" because I genuinely like being with my family. But then I think when it's been like this, that I really fancy just time on my own to eat a sandwich!
Moan over.
I have done another PAD of £5 today based on my wombling score for the day (found a magazine and got a free coffee)
Also bought a whole small chicken for £2.95 because we are having fajitas for dinner and its way cheaper to strip half a chicken for tonight and add it to the meal, than buy breasts alone or thighs. The other half will do a small roast dinner tommorow night.
The house is at least looking better after the hoovering etc today.

Totally normal to get a bit grumpy when you never get a break though. Don't be hard on yourself. You know I'm struggling at the moment with ds and that can be hard too - doesn't make us bad people. Just ordinary folk who need a rest now and again.
And teaching teens isn't all that bad - I know it's not for everyone, but the good outweighs the bad and most of them are lovely. Not giving up

Bless you Cat the voice of reason....
Well DD powered through till 6.30 our dinner time, when during mid flow on Pok!mon, DS suddenly went 'mum' urgently, and I nearly choked thinking 'What??' only to see DD wilting like a willow onto her plastic baby chair tray....Poor lamb...It's not normal for a baby of that age to last all day surely!" Hopefully, you can get back into a routine soon. My children go back to school on Monday and I will be pleased to get them back into a routine.0

Hey Bob! poor knackered you, I remember the post- holiday routine chaos, don't miss it either! But not here to gloat, what worked for me to get them back into nap time was I took mine swimming for about 30 mins, fed him a snack and warm drink after, 15 minutes later they were always comatose in the pram. They use up so much energy in the pool, plus trying to keep warm, then the warm shower and a full belly and a snuggly blanket in the pram = at least 90 mins of being passed out in a heap.
It was the fastest way of getting mine back into a routine, but then the pool was a minor ten minute detour between the house and the school. And managed to keep nap time until they were nearly 4!4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Thanks Chanie, I'm sure most of the parents on here feel feel the same! There was was a funny post on Hurrah for Gins Instagram feed with a mum basically fake crying at her children going back to school then cheering and boozing it up:rotfl:" Your vibe attracts your tribe":D
