I thought of you during my rant about the chicken yesterday. Four growing boys must take some doing!

    Afternoon All

Been out and about today. I took DD to the library and then met the others after their swim. Was very nice. Bumped into a few friends all the way. Good things
    * Made soup this morning. It was a real clear the fridge affair, even threw in a portion of Shepard's pie! Why not, after all it's just potatoes and veg which is is what most soup is made of. It turned out ok, could have done with more blending though.
    * Found 8p roadkill along the route
    * Took a flask of tea out with me so no cafe temptations
    * We walked to the pool and back so a good hours strolling
    * Took snacks out for post swimming munchies
    * DH got 10% off at the pool using his library card (claimed as a Womble)
    * OH decluttered an empty phone box for me as we bought the same model till mine was was stolen, and I didnt know which box was which to get rid of. So after months of it sitting there he finally checked the serial number on his.
    * I decluttered a smoothie maker that no longer worked, and put away the replacement model they sent me for free. Very pleased with that. I'd had the faulty one over a year just sat in a cupboard but never used. It will teach me to check that things work when they first arrive. I was very pleased with the companies response given the item was out of warranty.
    * Clipped a 50p coupon for Ella's children's products and put it in my purse for next time I'm shopping.

Think that's it for now. Home made pizza dough ready and defrosted to do dinner later.

    Good day then!

My dad came and helped me do some decluttering today - he chopped up a load of knackered skirting board for me to stick on't fire!

    Happy Sunday :)

Well dramas on our afternoon walk. We live very close to a huge Sains. We have in the past done afternoons of litter picking down by the river as it can be chockka with shopping bags that fly out of the bins during windy periods and land in the river. We aren't the only ones who do this. I've had chats with various others doing it. We all wish the supermarket would do more to stop the pollution of the beautiful local park and river (there are even kingfishers there) well that sets the scene.
This afternoon as we walked near to the supermarket we could see a lot of crows. Probably 30 or more all flying in the air and landing in this one spot. On closer inspection my OH realised that there was a crow stuck up in a tree in the supermarket car park, strangling itself on a carrier bag that was around its neck and the tree branch.
That was the easy part. We then had to figure out how to get to it. As the tree had no lower branches and the bird was another few feet up from DHs height we needed something to stand on. Then I had the idea of getting a shopping trolley, so once we had that DH stood on that and went into the tree. By this point quite a few people were getting involved, including a man with an umbrella and someone saying they had a knife to cut the bag off. Thankfully DH was able to simply unwind the bag from the poor birds neck and it flew off a few seconds later.

I am very glad it was ok. And it just makes me even more determined to boycott plastic shopping bags even more. Wildlife shouldn't be threatened in this way it's sad and unnecessary.

    And how was your afternoon??

What a good dead you did. It leaves me with a nice feeling knowing there are kind people out there, such as you!!!

I did make a point of using less carrier bags long before the carrier bag charge was introduced. I felt like we were drowning in them at one point. Considering I've only bought 1 bag since the charge was introduced, we still have lots at home, but I prefer to use my own bags.
