  • Sounds like a lovely break, even with Storm Doris's contribution.

I would be inclined to hold back money for April until you know for definite that you'll be able to afford April. How depressing would it be to get your DFD and then immediately have to overspend?
Trying to figure out a whole new life. Trying to figure out a whole new budget.
Divorcing, unclear on final debt total right now, but focusing on building a financial buffer zone.
  • Glad you had a lovely few days away Bob xx

Glad you've had a lovely time away Bob :)

I agree though, best to keep the money until April as I can't imagine how upsetting it would be to become DF and then need to take on additional credit
Let’s just pretend I have not been alternately drowning in debt or only eating toast to try and pay it off for the last 20 years 😭

    Afternoon All

We started late today but it was needed after the journey home last night and not getting the kids to bed till around 9. Pottered till I suddenly realised I needed to leave at that exact moment to let today's booking in.

    Wealth

    * My new business card has arrived. Just need the pin too then I'm good to go. The account charges saving plus the extra money available from no insurance payment being due this month or next will pay for my business account savings for two months. I need to save £108 per month to have my building insurance & accountants fee for 2018 ready to one side.

    * Had an enquiry in my inbox first thing. Now have the money in my account :)

    * Also had received a deposit from another client.

    * Total of £137 in new deposits this week.

    * Totalled up enquiries for the month - 24 Vs bookings 7 29% conversion rate this month.

    * I have another viewing tommorow so that might be higher. That is for new business into other months.

    * I did get the social media booking too....

    * Currently have £315 in my business account with another £80 in bills to go out before Tuesday. That is the most I've ever had left at the end of the month. I am due another £100 in events that have taken place and owe me money too.

    * This month I paid £300 across to the new machine fund to replace the old machine that will go on sale soon. So that would also usually be there in the account too.

    * I tallied up my drawings £400 from bus account to personal. I could draw quite a bit more if I wanted but I am trying to let it mount up in the business account especially a good approach now the A bomb is coming (April less revenue potentially plus increased rates)

    * Looks like I have taken £1587.50 this month so far might get a bit more before Tuesday :)

    * On our own side of things, we spent quite a lot extra this month to usual. £285 to be precise. It's all things like my husband's new glasses, new shoes and daps for DS, my painting, a new rain cover for the pushchair, a costume for my son's school play, £52 on train tickets for our half term trip) none of it will be needed again in a hurry but all of a sudden that's £300 we've had to absorb. But we have, which is an interesting observation on how we operate. I'm not a YNABer but we seem to manage anyway.

    * I want to keep an eye on how my grocery spends just to see how that's going. Last week we did £69.56 which included quite a bit of stocking up. This week £56.64 but I will need to spend between £10 and £20 today as we have nothing to eat :)

    * We've saved money this week as OH hasn't needed a travel card and I haven't used the bus at all. So our extra £52 spend on the train tickets for our trip away is offset by that in reality.

    Health

    * Done one bike trip and back so far today. Will do another at 11.30 tonight, and home. So good there. Will walk to the supermarket in a bit too.

    Organisation

    * 3 loads of washing done.

    * Unpacked the bags and made sure everything has gone away.

    * Sent an email to my bank querying the DD that wasn't taken.

    Bob

For peace of mind I'd hang on to the money so it's available for a lean April if necessary and if not needed then you can pay it off the debt a little later. Win win!

Thanks for your opinion Verbatim it is the sensible choice isn't it. Like all of us I'm chasing that DFD so hard that sometimes get a little blinkered.

I'm glad you got out on your break. I am absolutely sure you will replace the business especially with enquiries coming in daily but I agree with Verbatim to wait until you know the extra payment won't leave you short.

Thanks Paws also the voice of reason.

You are so right. It would be really upsetting if that happened. Thanks TOPM

  • I find your income summaries really interesting Bob, as a fellow self employed person with an income that trickles in - it's great to see how other people manage that stream of income.

  • Glad you had a good break Bob, you've been busy already since you've got back!

Definitely agree to keep back the funds until April, just piece of mind for a few extra weeks.

Great news on the business account looking healthier, and yay to people paying their deposits!

Take care tonight when you lock up, H x
  • A bomb :rotfl:
Well I'm pleased to read that enquiries are still coming thick and fast, and I agree with the others - another month won't hurt...
