  • Lots of give and take in a marriage, I certainly couldn't do mine plus my coaching and running without my dh and I make sure I give that time back to him too.

    Glad the family are well and enjoying a nice day, busy as usual!

    Teddies and bath day - DD has 5 faves (is same age as her, took them to uni), and hates them being washed even now, because then they smell of clean washing and don't smell or feel well hugged?

    Thank you for popping in NOA I'm glad you like the headings. It makes me feel that even if I've done little on one area a day, I will always have added something somewhere :) plus everyone needs to know I put my bins out right:rotfl:

    That is so lovely about your DDs favourite stuffed animals. I also had a bed full of beanie babies at uni.

    My son has never expressed a preference for any toy, and didn't suck his fingers etc.

    DD is much more snuggly with all her toys so far. I'm not going to draw any gender based comparisons.

    Hello Everyone

    It is absolutely brass monkeys here a Londres today. Glad of my warm coat.

    Wealth

    * Woke up to an email from someone I spoke to on the phone last week expressing interest in a date. Replied to their message.

    * Had another enquiry too but the date is booked.

    * No change to business account.

    * Checked personal account.
    - We have had a few spends this pay period that have added up quite a lot. - - DH needed new glasses. He had his eye test for free courtesy of work which saved us spending £20. He now needs reading glasses for the first time. Work have paid for those. This was a saving of about £50. But his old other glasses needed replacing. He has broken the frames so many times and had them kicked off by DD etc, so we bought him a pair of those for £45.
    -DD has been given so many clothes since birth, both new as gifts & wonderful bags full of clothes from my friends girls, up to the age of the youngest of them (4) so we have barely had to spend on her. But with the weather so cold it has become apparent that she didn't have enough long sleeved cotton babygrows so I paid £10 for 5 from Next. I think it's only the second thing I've bought her since she was born so not bad going.
    - I paid for a painting, from an artist who had exhibited at my place, which was before Christmas, but I took delivery of that this month so that was £45.
    - DS is in the school play next week and I was asked to buy him a specific costume for that which I did today. I had £1.04 left on an Amazon gift card so at least that came off the cost.

    I can't remember a month were we last spent so much in a personal spends way, oh well!

    * Saved £5.20 on coffee as one was free on loyalty points and another Mum paid for my second as a treat.

    * Found 20p roadkill at the swings.

    * OH WFH so I borrowed his travel card, only got two buses as usual anyway. £1.50. So he saved around £4 from not needing to travel on the tube today and I saved the £1.50 because his card had capped for the day anyway.

    - Using up two not very large portions of cod for our tea tonight, bulking it out with oven chips and salad. And for dessert? I spotted Vienetta were only £1 at Mr S, so treated us to one of those! What a classic, can't remember when I last had that :)

    Health

    * It was so nice today to spend a couple of hours out with another Mum. I haven't done that in such a long time as my local friend went back to work full time in September, and I haven't prioritised going to Mum and baby classes etc. So I often go all day, till the school run, without speaking to another adult if I don't have viewings. I don't mind my own company at all, and there's always you lot :) but still, I realised how nice it is to be with others.

    * Lots of walking, about 2 hours today.

    Organisation

    * Made sure to use up 4 kiwi fruit that had been sitting in the fridge. They were the must have dessert a few weeks back but then fell out of fashion. DS ate them for pudding.

    * Took a sandwich and snacks out with me for the day as I knew I'd be out over lunch.

    * Dailies

    * Applied for a new business account a few months back. It has 25 months free banking. They wanted some supporting bank statements from my old bank and they were with the accountant till this Monday. Now need to get those into an envelope and post. Important as I could be saving at least £20 a month doing that. Moved file into prominent position to remind me for tomorrow.

    Night all.

    Bob

  • Hey Bob
    I live in a small, ex mining town and one of our many closed pubs has just reopened as a Costalots, which is like the ultimate temptation for me. There are far worse things we could be doing than having a fancy coffee every now and again.

    Oh no! :eek: But seriously. I know buying take away coffee is in itself not great, as of course we could have it at home for cheaper. But in our case we never eat out, unless you count a roughly once a month trip to the golden arches....I literally can't tell you the last time I stepped foot in a pub or bar, don't smoke, etc....You do need to have a few treats or what's the point??

    Coming out of hiding as have been reading your diary for sometime and wanted to say I'm also trying to deal with life under the same headings as you but couldn't find a word that rhymed with health / wealth for organisation.
    The saying "if you want something doing give it to a busy person" I think describes you to a tee.
