Don't use eBay Drop Off at Argos. They cost me £56.

If we follow this on logically all small businesses would suffer though. The likes of Amazon and Argos can negotiate their own deals with a courier- or even set their own up with tracking and not have it affect their pricing structure by more than a penny or two. The likes of a small business is unlikely to be able to set up their own courier service and would still be reliant on negotiating the best price they could with an existing service. Those services, whether RM or AN other courier have to make money so couldn't just charge us pennies and would probably mean increasing our postage costs by several pounds an item.
That would automatically make any business who could not set up their own service, more expensive than the big players and therefore price themselves out of the market.
I am very happy with my current situation, anything that can go as a large letter is sent untracked, my parcels do now go MyHermes which is a tracked. Signed for is not a tracked service so if I had to use tracking I would have to send my large letter items either special delivery which would cost £6.45 or by MyHermes which would be £2.75 instead of my current 75p. I'd never be able to compete with big sellers.
If you struggle with losses or claims then perhaps rather than want a nanny state where no one is trusted, why not look to work out what is happening with your items- and try and rectify that instead?
Good Post and very well written:beer:0 -
I don't think it did. Unscrupulous sellers leaving retaliatory feedback was why it was changed.Brooker_Dave wrote: »It worked well when buyers and sellers could leave feedback.
Rubbish sellers were obvious, and buyers didn't mess around for fear of bad feedback.0 -
Yes. That's what I would have said too. Ebay stats proved that buyers were hemorrhaging so they needed to do what they could to keep them on site.I don't think it did. Unscrupulous sellers leaving retaliatory feedback was why it was changed.
I remember the old Powerseller forums with sellers boasting about the bad feedback they had left buyers. I was amazed that they thought it a good thing to be abusive to customers for all to see (even if the customer may have occasionally deserved it, it certainly put off new ones).
There's still a layer of abuse that exists on Ebay that doesn't on other platforms. Buyers and sellers can still be quite hostile there..0
