Don't use eBay Drop Off at Argos. They cost me £56.

So you do have a receipt?
well now that we know that then you simply contact UKMail, its their service which is provided VIA argos and even if Argos have messed, UKMail are still liable.
ring them again, tell them you have been given a receipt, provide them the tracking ref and demand to know what they will do about it.
Its the same with any other courier and their drop-off points. I use Hermes regularly at a local drop-off at a newsagent, even if the newsagent loses the parcel, because they have issued me a Hermes receipt card as far as I'm concerned it has entered Hermes chain, because its Hermes who have instructed me to go to that drop-off location, the same surely applies here0 -

I think this is different though. My Hermes you pay direct and then drop it off at a shop who you do not pay any money to. This service you go into an Argos store and pay them for it. UK mail then pick up the parcel and assume Argos pay UK Mail to deliver the parcel. Personally I would keep on at Argos. They took your money, they are responsible.0 -

sorry missed the bit where OP mentioned paying Argos... well in that case Argos would be my first point of call and I'd speak to someone other than an ill-trained young newbie0 -
Yup. I agree. Store manager, then head office. Or just go through social media, Twitter and Facebook. Twitter usually works best, you can even tag UK Mail in it. eg "sent parcel via UKMail, dropped off at Argos, they lost it and I lost £56, store told me to get lost, please help"greenstreetprince wrote: »sorry missed the bit where OP mentioned paying Argos... well in that case Argos would be my first point of call and I'd speak to someone other than an ill-trained young newbie.0 -
Do Argos have CCTV in store? Ask them to check the date you entered the store and left the item?Remember the time he ate my goldfish? And you lied and said I never had goldfish. Then why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl?0

Update...
I've just come back from Argos again and spoke to the manager. The parcel was still there and was simply handed back to me!
The rather pathetic explanation given to me was that "the guy from UK Mail never came to collect it"!
I asked why they hadn't contacted me, given that they put my phone number and email address on their system when I dropped it off. They couldn't give me an answer.
I also asked what they thought was going to happen to the parcel - would it just sit in their store forever? Again, they couldn't give me an answer.
When I explained that I'd had to refund the buyer and lost money on eBay fees, I was given a £10 Gift Card (on top of the refund for the postage).
While this was clearly Argos's fault, I'm not impressed with UK Mail's response to my complaint. They said "it's up to the store what they choose to do with the parcel - sometimes they might send it by Royal Mail if they want to". Errr, what, even after a UK Mail tracking number has been generated?! And the terms and conditions state that the contract is between the sender and UK Mail!0 -
It's all a bit odd. I'd still carry on your complaint with Argos, Ebay and UK Mail. I suspect you could get a bit more out of Argos higher up their chain. When I explained that I'd had to refund the buyer and lost money on eBay fees, I was given a £10 Gift Card (on top of the refund for the postage).

With their Sainsbury takeover delivery is their big thing. They've just been promoting same day delivery for groceries coming soon, I suspect they wouldn't want the idea of them languishing in a back room shelf for a week on any of their Google feeds..0 -
Poor Service by all, maybe contact the buyer with a brief explanation and ask if they want the item still?
Glad you got it sorted eventually.0 -
Glad you got this sorted, however this service doesn't fill me with confidence!0
