    I hope you get a goofs nights rest and feel better tomorrow.
  • Hope you feel better soon and it's not one of the many flu viruses flying about.
  • Well I think we can safely conclude that I have a chest infection. Ugh. Trouble is that I don't know if it's viral or bacterial, can't get a doctor's appointment and am not keen on sitting at the walk in centre to see a doctor I don't know and be sent away with the advice of having a rest and lots of fluids. Voice has almost completely gone, but I feel ok unless I cough or try to take a really deep breath. I'm going to have another early night tonight and see if rest really helps or not.
    Managed to survive work today and got a reasonable amount done. I came home early though as I just couldn't be bothered after 4pm, plus I had to take naughty tortie back to the vets for another check up. So off we went for that. She had her stitches out, after some struggling, and has been given a clean bill of health (again). I just hope that we can go a few more years without her getting too sick again. I need to replenish the vet fund.
    Not much else to report - general exhaustion and parents evening to look forward to tomorrow night.
  • Hi all :coffee: :dance:
    Feeling a bit better - still have the cough from hell and a raging sore throat, but my voice is back. I'm getting through the day with the help of Sudafed and Soothers and feeling almost normal, but I'm very, very tired. I can get through work, and survived parents evening last night, but I just need to sleep as soon as I get home at the moment. It was after 7pm last night.
    Then we woke up to a fair amount of snow this morning. I had to dig my car off the drive, and it was scary getting onto the main roads, but fine once I got there. DD's school was closed, but me and ds were expected in as normal as there was less than a cm of snow there. Dreading the ice tomorrow though...
    Not much to report. Work, tired, ill, skint. Same old really. I'm just about to settle with my crochet and some tv.
  • Morning all :coffee: :wave:
    I'm fed up and bored of being ill now. I'm onto day 11 with this cough and sore throat and still feeling really tired. I do feel a bit better today even though the throat is still sore so hopefully I'm finally through the worst of it. It can be difficult to get perspective when you're tired and poorly.
    We still have a fair amount of snow outside, which hasn't melted, and I believe that there's more on the way today. I have to go out in a couple of hours to do my tutoring - part of me wishes I didn't, but then I think about the money and it's worth it. Just hope I get home before the snow properly sets in for the day.
    I think I'm finally starting to get a bit of my mse ways back. Through necessity mind you - I'm still 10 days away from payday and barely have 10p to my name. I hate January financially anyway, but it's even harder when it's a 5 week month. Yesterday I resealed the bath myself - it's been leaking for a week or two, so I bought the stuff myself and watched a couple of videos. It doesn't look brilliant, but it is hopefully at least waterproof. And it cost less than a fiver to do.
    And I have meal planned for the week ahead and just bought the bare minimum. Fingers crossed I can keep going with that. I need to reign in my spending and frivolous ways. I keep falling off the wagon because I'm so lazy.
  • I am feeling a lot better thanks 1LL. The sore throat is definitely less than it was, and I don't nearly pee myself when I cough - so I'll take that.
    Got my tutoring done and got home just before the heaviest of the snow started. It went on for about 4 hours, but seems to be melting again pretty quickly so I'm hopeful there will be no travel disruption tomorrow getting to work. I've gotten a few bits done round the house and made dinner as well so I feel less stressed about that than I was. I haven't done the marking that I planned to either, but I will lock myself away during my free tomorrow and do it then.
    Early night tonight, ready for another week at work...
  • Hi everyone :coffee: :D
    So, the sore throat is still hanging right in there. Day 13 today. I rang the doctors. The receptionist told me that there are no appointments available and it's only a cold and will get better on its own anyway, but if I was worried I should go to the walk in centre. I can't be bothered with the walk in centre tonight as they are almost certain to either refer me back to the docs or tell me to man up. I popped there last week and was told I should see my own gp. I know it's only a cold and it will get better - it's already better than it was but I want some maximum strength throat stuff to make me feel human for a bit. So I went to the pharmacist who told me to take lots of paracetamol and ibuprofen and I nearly had to go loopy for some throat lozenges. But I have them and am going to use them.
    Also popped to the post office to post an old phone for recycling - apparently O2 are going to give me £47 for it, which will be nice if it happens, and will go straight back into the emergency fund that naughty tortie has used up with her latest ailment.
    Other than that, I may have replaced my car :o:o:o:o I had saved up to have the brakes replaced and have been talked into trading it in. The car is one thing that I'm happy to keep on the pcp agreement because they can end up costing thousands as they get older. Apparently that will be ready for me to pick up on Friday after school, so I'm looking forward to that.
    Right then - time for a cuppa and a bit of crochet methinks. Just me and the kids this week as dh has gone off to Scotland on his own for a bit of scenery and peace and quiet. I do love him, but also like these breaks as well.
  • Awesome news on the car, good move I feel.

    hope the cold goes very soon. Bloody rubbish being ill and at work.

    enjoy the solitude XX
    Nevertheless she persisted.
  • Morning!

    Congrats on the car. May you have many happy and safe miles in it.

    I wouldn't hold my breath on the phone recycling cost. I've been stung before when they come back and 'find' faults and reduce the cost dramatically. Hope I'm wrong on this occasion though.
  • Sorry. Just buried under a pile of exam marking at the moment... It's exam season and I like to do my marking job.
    New car = fab
    Phone recycling £ = got the full amount
    Work = fab
    DH = poorly again
    me = trying to manage bit not doing so well with it
