Many happy returns CCL. I don't know how to post pics of cakes and balloons and stuff but the sentiment is there! Life does begin at 40 and by 55 it's pretty good! SF xTilly Tidying andPADing in 2024 £250.62

Hi everyone :hello: :coffee:
I'm completely overwhelmed by how spoilt I've been today. Got up this morning and it was like any boring old normal day - dishes to wash, cats to feed etc. And it was raining outside. Nothing from kids or dh, but he's never up when we go out in the morning so if he has arranged anything then it'll be later tonight I see it.
Got to work and found a bunch of flowers on my chair, a mug with a cat on it and a silver ring in the shape of a cat, from one colleague. Then went to department meeting to get wine, chocolates and flowers from the rest of my department, got back to my desk and had another 2 presents and a couple of cards. I'm total surprised by it all and I feel really quite loved. My Year 10 class had made me a card and sang happy birthday to me (and almost got me crying). What lovely people I work with.
I've never really gotten going work wise, but the kids have been lovely - I've not had any behavioural issues to deal with at all. Just waiting for ds to get home from school and we can head home for the weekend. I've booked me and the kids a table at a restaurant (dh won't be home from work until late) so we're off out for early dinner - then I think it'll be business as usual. I have a HUGE Mr T order arriving between 9 and 10 tonight and I'm tired... (bit boring but life ticks on as normal). Not giving up

Minor issue yesterday afternoon. Drove 10 of the 15 miles home from work only to realise I'd left my phone on my desk at school. So I had to turn round and go back for it. Last night's commute home ended up being about 80 minutes in the end and all my own daft fault. Lucky enough I'd left early enough that I had plenty of time to go back and it ended up just being like a normal evening. Got home to find an absolutely massive bouquet of flowers, a box of chocolates and a bottle of champagne () from dh and the kids. There's me thinking I wasn't being bothered about and dh went all out for me. So spoilt.
DS friend arrived and me and the three kids went off to get dinner as planned. I got my main course for free as it was my birthday (very mse) and rather than getting dessert the kids asked if we could go across the way to MaccyD and get an ice cream there (also mse). Got home, took delivery of Mr T and decided to do a home made bucks fizz and have a couple of drinks with dh. You know I don't drink often at all, so it didn't take me much to be completely off my face - I staggered off to bed just before midnight and still woke up at 4am! On the plus side, I don't feel too bad this morning at all. No headache. Tired, but that's usual. Clearly I don't get a hangover if I drink champagne :rotfl:
Not much planned for today - bestie is on her way over to collect her ds, my ds has a football match later on and I have tutoring. Other than that I'm hoping for a nap and plenty of crochet time. Only one more week at work until Easter :TNot giving up

it's a real cliche but honestly I am much more comfortable in my own skin now than I ever have been. All of my idiosyncrasies I now accept and don't feel that I have to hide, I know what I like and what I want from my life. It is true it does begin at 40DF as at 30/12/16
