At the moment, Lenovo are producing some real quality stuff. My wife is really happy with hers, she loves the Lenovo addons, which help her maintain it.

No, at the moment Lenovo are trying make Macbookalikes, I have a B50 at work and it's terrible, the touchpad is too big, you accidentally touch it when trying to type (VERY annoying), it just doesn't do what it should, it randomly decides to go into select mode and highlights everything on the screen as you move over it and there appears to be no way to consistently do a right click.

The keyboard is just as bad, designed to look like a Macbook, not designed to be functional.

I have to use it with a docking station, keyboard and mouse, otherwise it'd drive me nuts.

The new Lenovo line up and no good for people who love classic thinkpads and Mac users won't buy it because it's not got an Apple logo, so they're entirely pointless and stupid.

I've got a B50 for personal use and love it.

I only use it for internet and occasionally MS Office but it certainly does everything I need in a quick efficient manner.

No problems with the touchpad either.

I also have an iPad for the same purposes but would much rather use the B50.

I need to replace my acer aspire 9420 vista ultimate which I use for general surfing, no downloading of films, music, video's.

Have you considered a Chromebook, much better for only browsing

You know what, it had been my intention to invest in one of them as I use google for everything, and I can see me getting one (so must look for best deals) and son-in-law selecting something mentioned above.

PS, just been reading up.I have an ipad and iphone and sync stuff through to all three devices. If I have read it properly, I don't think this can be done with chromebook. I would with google photo's, oh and suppose google calendar, so when I read that because itunes isn't on chromebook, things don't sync, I wonder what that means:-
We’re not saying that Chromebooks are a perfect solution, as there are still limitations you need to consider. The most significant is that, unlike Windows machines, Chromebooks can’t run most of the software you might be used to. So, no Photoshop, no iTunes (and therefore no iPhone compatibility) and next to no gaming.

    Yes, not Apple

But if you have Android phone and tablet?.......Google Photos, Calender's, Drive all sync with the Chrombook seamlessly

Well, my wife is 70 and an inexperienced user, although I am 71 and have been building and using computers for years. Wife has none of the troubles you experience, so I suspect the fault may lie with yourself.

    "Macbookalikes?" I larfs! :rotfl:

If you think the later Lenovos are OK, then your a light user who's never used a proper Thinkpad. Simple as........

Criticism over the later Lenovo offerings is all over the internet, so im not even going to bother posting the several dozen links I found in the last 20 minutes.
Just one to get you started

Your really going to go into "qualifying" yourself?

I've been building high spec gaming rigs for the best part of 20 years, I've run my own IT business (which I stopped because I cannot tolerate stupid people), i'm electronics engineer, I design and build one off high value bespoke equipment (including mechanical design), i've worked in the aerospace, automotive and defence sectors.

The B50 (and all the thinkpads that try to be macbooks) was a huge mistake, why does the entire touchpad push down when all it needs is a tap? why do the right/left side of the pad appear to do the same thing (random left/right press), why is the pad so big and positioned where most normal people would rest their palm? Where have the old Thinkpad fucntion keys gone? I can't use this machine as a normal laptop, I have to hover over it jabbing at the keys from above, whist trying to avoid touching the pad.

It's a Thinkpad designed to look like a Macbook Air, it doesn't work as either.

I dare say that casual users won't have so much of an issue, but just try using it for 3-4 hours a day writing procedures and reports, then try using it for QCAD Pro or EAGLE (PCB design) and see how it lasts before you want to launch it out of the nearest window.
