    Look for another job.
  • How on earth do you cause £2k of damage manoeuvring in such a confined space. Did Mr Angry come to town?

It is about £800 for both? I said £1000 for both just as a rounded number.

So I should block in a girl who's dad was ill and taken into hospital?
No, but that still doesn't change the fact that the company you work for has no liability at all in this matter. The parking may well be an issue but as a driver it is on you to carry out manoeuvres in a safe and controlled manner so you don't hit other vehicles/people/objects and cause damage no matter what the circumstances.

Yes I understand that and as I said I know it's my fault.

But the company HAS the option of more car parking spaces, this is just ridiculous at the minute and because they won't pay the price for the extra spaces employees like me are having to spend £1000.

It's not their fault and I get that, but it shouldn't have had to happen!

Use public transport or park somewhere else
    This. It's very simple.

If you think the car park is too full to safely use, then don't use it.
If you can't move your car because of other cars, then ask the drivers of those other cars to move them, too. Just as you were asked to move yours.

If you DO move your car, and hit another car, why would it be anybody's fault but yours?

You hit a stationary object, the only person with any sort of blame for this is you.

If you aren't a very good parker then you need to work on that.

Surely you know if you can't see where you are going you don't just blindly drive? It didn't happen because there aren't more spaces, it happened because you chose to drive without being able to see where you were going. Small scratches etc are not normal damage, they are the result of careless and poor drivers.

If you and the other party chooses not to go through insurance you will still need to declare and inform future insurers of your accident.

The only reason you are having to pay is because you failed to make adequate observations when undertaking a manoeuvre.

You say yo accept you are at fault but then immediately try to blame your employer again. Perhaps an adjustment of attitude is required.

Your employer is under o obligation to provide you a space. They could also taken issue with employees not ring at their desk because they are doing the car shuffle. My suggestion would be that you find somewhere else to park and walk the last bit although you will have to allow a little more time.
  • I'm not trying to deflect the fault, I have never tried to make out its not my fault!

Actually I'm going to change the thread name as its not actually what I'm trying to ask.

OK, so what are you trying to ask?

The only question in your original post is...
So my question is my company liable for the damaged caused?

If that's not what you're trying to ask, because you accept that you are 100% at fault, then...
