  • Thanks Monz :) had a quick look on your diary and it seems that you are doing really well!

Feel as if I am letting lots of people down at the moment, including myself :( Can't go back to work as still not much better than I was at the weekend and I'm finding it difficult. Not sure if I'll get to go back to the temp job once I'm better.

On a more positive note, I decided to set myself some goals. I was speaking to a younger relative, who is just about to start college, about how quickly the next two years will go for him and it got me thinking.
In the next two years I hope to achieve the following:

    - Degree finished (retaking third year of four year course starting October 2016)
    - Career focused qualification complete (starting September 2016)
    - All 'bad marks' on my credit report will finally be wiped (last one due to be removed Aug 2018)
    - Aiming to have at least 18 months full time employment on a decent salary
    - Debt free!
    - Potentially able to remortgage :)

It'll be hard work trying to complete all of the above, but if I'm focused and put my mind to it, I can do it :)

    It's Friday :j

Just transferred £100 over to my Dad.

Just checked my emails and I've approved the text for the auction catalogue. Less than 4 weeks to go until the auction date.
  • Cash from my car sale has gone into my bank account, so I've just paid £150 off my car loan. Waiting for the tax to be refunded too.
  • Hope everyone had a good weekend. I'm still not feeling great and didn't feel up to attending a family bbq yesterday so didn't do much apart from read and walk the dog.

Had all the documents through for the property auction including the catalogue text and the invoice for putting the property in to auction. Forgot it was subject to VAT so I now have a bill of £474 due! Don't have that in my bank, so will have to use my overdraft :(

Just sold one of the laptops for £100 so that cash will be put in to my bank, to help with this bill.

Just about to have a look at my module choices for this coming year at uni. Need to email my course administrator to confirm them. Once all confirmed, will need to sort my application for student finance for the year.

Then plan to spend the rest of the afternoon emailing agencies with my CV. I've found that a lot of recruitment agencies don't seem to have even received or looked at my CV after applying for jobs on jobsites, so maybe going directly might prove beneficial? We'll see.

Hi Sophie, yes it's called The Purse Strings Have Snapped !!!! I'm relatively new to all this but finding a lot of comfort in other people's posts. I'm having a mare of a day so far. Just trying to pull myself together and get on with it xx

Hi Sophie Lou, Sounds like lots has been happening. I've found the start of this journey has been very much up and down too - but I am hoping things will get simpler soon.
Hate VAT!! it's a shame you have had to use your O/D but it's not the end of the world, and i guess when it sells you will be able to clear it. Will it leave you short for this month?

Hi Smolly! Spent my 15 minute coffee break this afternoon having a read of your diary. It's tough sometimes dealing with everything that life throws at us, plus tackling the debt, but it will be so worth it in the end :) x

    Hi Ramble :)
Let's hope things start to settle soon.
The auction isn't until the first week of September and then I'll have to wait 28 days to complete (have to confirm this with my solicitor who luckily comes as part as the auction house package!) Once I have the money though, I'll clear the overdraft and (hopefully!) the BTL mortgage. Feel quite relieved to think that it may be gone soon - I've spent so much time worrying about how to sort out the repairs and pay for them!
It will leave me short for the month and without a proper income at the moment it's a bit scary but hopefully it'll just be for the short term and will work out better for me in the long run!
Off to catch up with your diary shortly x

Spent most of the afternoon emailing my course administrator at uni to try and work out the best options for this coming academic year. Means I didn't get any CV's out but I feel a lot happier knowing I've got uni sorted and clear in my head, ready for October. Still need to apply for student finance but that can be sorted another day. CV's at the ready for tomorrow!

Off to walk the dog, before she gets hysterical :rotfl:
