  • Hi Ramble! Now I have a subscriber, I guess I have to go ahead and tackle this debt head on :)

Had a productive couple of days. Waking up at 5am to walk dog, potter around before work and apply for permanent jobs. Then shower and off to temp job. I'm actually surprised that I find getting up earlier in the morning okay, as I'm definitely not a morning person. I guess not having to rush around, plus getting some exercise and fresh air each morning is making me feel better about everything. Long may it continue! Have spent my lunch breaks calling agencies back and then have had some 'me' time in the evenings.

I'm overdrawn by about £140, which isn't great and certainly isn't helping to clear my debts, but the majority of that was the council tax plus some other utilities. This Friday will be my first 'proper' pay day in a while, albeit a small amount as I'm being paid weekly by the temp agency. Should clear up some of the overdraft and aim to have another low spend weekend. Also, still have invoices outstanding from some freelance work which will need chasing.

Will add the overdraft to my list of debts, if I'm still overdrawn next Friday (12th).

    Yes indeedy!!

Good luck with the online course. I've been doing some survey sites to earn vouchers for Christmas. every little helps.

I love those productive days too. I think exercise is so important, or at least spending time outside. Too much indoor time is bad for the soul.

Got any more job prospects on the go?

Thanks Ramble :) Any chance you could give me an idea of which survey sites you are on? Sounds like a great idea to help towards the Christmas budget!

I'm speaking to a couple of agencies at the mo about potential jobs and I'll be spending more time this weekend on the CV and job applications too. Was told that the place I'm currently temping at wants me to stay for at least another 2 weeks, potentially longer up to mid September! So that'll help with both the money front and my motivation. My outlook has been so much better this past week. So far, having this diary has given me a way of clearing my head slightly and sharing my worries with people who won't judge, so I thank you all massively for that.

Money wise, I've had a few payments from invoices today, plus the weekly pay from my temp job. It's taken me back out of my overdraft, I've got enough money to cover the bills and direct debits that are due this week PLUS I've made a £50 payment to my dad, which is a start.

I've worked out that I should be okay to make a £100 a week payment to my Dad, so that's my aim now. Hopefully the debt to him will be cleared in 5 weeks time :j

    Hiya,
I'm doing Pinecone - they pay £3 a survey - but don't get many surveys.
The Mysurvey - lots and lots of survey for tiny amounts, but every little helps. Also do One Poll - again not many surveys but soon adds up. I'm aiming to get some cash for Christmas.
There might be some better ones, so let me know what you find?

That sounds very positive on the job front - totally appreciate you must feel relieved, and it all helps. One debt busted in 5 weeks - that's amazing and then you can hopefully switch that payment to another one. if your job wanted to extend you beyond mid September would you be up for it?

Good luck you can do it :)
  • Just as things are going well... I had an accident at the weekend resulting in concussion so I'm off work for the next few days as I'm unable to drive :( Hoping to be back to work on Thursday.

Trying to make the most of the situation by sorting things out. Have someone potentially interested in one of the cars and considering sending the lower priced one to auction but phoned up to find out fees today and I'm not sure it'll be worth it... Also having a valuation carried out on my BTL property tomorrow by an auctioneer so if the guide price is right, I'll chuck it in to auction and keep everything crossed.

Have a box of paperwork that needs to be sorted through and mainly shredded. I'm missing a logbook for one of the cars so am hoping that it will be in there. Will work through that this evening whilst watching TV.

Also have a small TV and one (potentially two) laptops to sell. Will try to list on the free sites today.

Any sales will help towards this debt :o
  • I was pleased with the BTL property valuation today and decided to put it in to auction in September :) saves me waiting to get a new kitchen sorted and then clear up the mess too. Hopefully it will reach the reserve price and I can pay off some more debt!
  • Sold the broken car tonight for £140 :j

Will put the cash in the bank, along with the road tax refund cheque (circa £50) and then pay £200 off the car loan. Will update my debt amounts once I've made a payment.
