Agreed - However the older models usually come with 80 Gb Hdd's
And by the time you have added a monitor, keyboard, mouse, and a copy of office, the price is almost doubled.
Also, a lot of the optiplex machines dont have onboard sound (speaker) for some reason, so speakers need to be added too.0 -

I've never had a PC supplied with onboard speakers and a free copy of Microsoft Office.
I certainly wouldn't pay £120 for an Optiplex with an 80GB HDD and no DVD Writer....which is why I linked to a better machine with a decent capacity HDD and a DVD Writer for £40. Keyboard and mouse £10. Monitor from £20.
£70 instead of £140.0 -

I wasnt talking about YOUR experience.
You seem to be looking for an arguement where there isnt one (like usual)
You obviously havent been through many pc,s if you have never had one with a speaker built in. Or not many optiplexes at least. As they all come with built in speaker after the 760.
And when i sell the old optiplexes, i dont remove the oem copy of office - why would I ?
I also wouldnt pay £120 for an optiplex with 80Gb HDD and no DVD writer .. Did you have a point to make ? Was anybody saying you would ? Or that the OP should ?
And where did you get £140 from ?
Have they let you out on your own again ?0 -

Seems that you're spending too much time locked up with your computers. The argument is only in your head.
I just had no idea as to why you were writing about built in speakers and Microsoft Office and I'm quite sure that the OP didn't expect them either.
So perhaps you should think about the the normal consumer, as opposed to one who is locked in a room full of old Optiplex machines.
I am simply outlining a much better deal for the OP, rather than babbling on about 'clean pulls' and other irrelevancies, bound only to confuse the OP.
No one expects a brand new HDD in a seven year old machine, unless specifically stated.
I see no such statement from the retailer in question.
£143.88 is the price of the PC from the OP's intended supplier with Windows 10 Pro and a DVD Writer.
£70 is the price of a comparable bundle I put together for the OP.
Still with me?
Don't try to be cheeky. You'll lose.0 -
Thanks for your replies, I am not competent at doing anything with a computer except switching it on so anything I buy needs to be ready to use as it is. I'm specifically looking for a computer that has Windows 10 already installed and hopefully a 12 month guarantee.
I am getting confused with all theses GB's if the one shown in NiftyDigits link is 320GB and my original choice is only 80GB isn't that a massive difference.0 -
Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.0

80GB is barely adequate. I wouldn't do it. As to Windows 10, you can reserve your copy and install it later if you wish.
Of course if you feel the system illustrated fits your needs, that is your choice to make. It's not a huge amount of cash. But you shouldn't be afraid of getting 'hands on'.
These things are relatively simple.0 -
The reason this appealed to me is that it already has Windows 10 downloaded and came as a bundle but even with the little knowledge I have was concerned about the 80GB.0
