I'm not a Millennial myself (Gen X) but I have sympathy with them as I know people who are just a few years younger than I am, but have struggled more with student loans, housing etc.

Anyone from a few years younger than I am to new graduates are possibly going to face the consequences of it more severely than you or I will.

I've spent a good few years building a business from scratch, which depends very much on the free movement of people and goods. I've already said that I'm happier to lose a UK market than an EU market, however that's largely because of where my contacts/experience lies.

It's looking increasingly likely that I'll be gone within the next 12-18 months.

What opportunities have been taken away?

Ability to live and and work easily anywhere in the EU. All the peripherals that come with this such as forming relationships, perhaps marrying, family, integrating with a new community, etc.

Ability for someone who isn't perhaps so well off in the UK to move out to rural Italy (just for example) and have a relatively nice house in a better climate in a lower cost environment.

My career was kind of kicking off in the dotcom era. I had an EU passport and migrated half way round the world to take advantage of the opportunities that afforded me, and at the time, IT contract work was easily available in many European countries. It was a fantastic time knowing I could go and experience a new country and culture so easily. It is sad that this may be taken away from many UK youth depending on the terms of the brexit negotiations.

2008-2010; lack of jobs for those leaving school to new graduates

Now, potentially, the chance to live, work and travel in the EU, which is what (from who I know anyway) a lot of young Brits want to do.

Seems the EU is suffering its fair share of 'lack of jobs'

I answered your question about what was being taken away. What is this bland piece of nonsense that you have replied with? I have just mentally crumpled it up and thrown it over my shoulder and into a small bin about 20 meters away.

Arguably nothings been taken yet, perhaps the young don't want this freedom, as they failed to show it in 'numbers' at the polling stations.Otherwise good shot.

And there's plenty that haven't? so probably don't realize the significance?

I'm referring to EU un-employment rates in general, seems theres a rose tinted attitude here, that's it's easy to up sticks and work elsewhere with ease.

For English speakers though, there is always work.

This is more the case for those that either have an education from, or work experience in the UK/US/Australia. Same goes for French, German and probably Spanish too.

There's a huge push from many countries for export now, and the UK/US make up some of the biggest export markets. Government export financing (which is something I'm sorting out for my business now) is not just for the £1m+ transactions it was 10 years ago; my case isn't this small, but I have seen facilities agreed for less than £5000 in the last few years in the UK, and from what I've heard, it's not too dissimilar in other countries.

This in turn will (theoetically and in tiny numbers at first) push down unemployment, as through the work of the language speakers, there will be the core manufacuring/services jobs through export.

Maybe I am looking with rose tinted glasses, however if you arrive in my home country with a British education and even a little work experience in another market, there's a good chance you'll be able to find something decent very quickly. This is in a country where for locals, there is something in the region of 60% unemployment.
