A pound stretching maternity

That was one of the best night sleeps I've had in ages. Woke for around half an hour at 4am, but other than that slept through! Until dh got up. I actually didn't hear him get up (that never happens), he got all the way downstairs before knocking things over loudly and waking me from my peaceful slumber
Oh well, it was half 6 so not too bad. Down I go to get a glass of juice, only to find he'd finished the one that was in the fridge yesterday and hadn't replaced it. I am at this point very pleased he is going to work today!!
At least I slept most of the night :rotfl:
I've checked the banking this morning, and compared it to this point last month. So far, we're doing a lot better than last month and have spent far less. I hope the rest of the month stays similar :j I last put petrol in the car 3 full weeks ago.......I like maternity leave! A couple of bills have gone out this morning, including my loan payment which I need to update in my signature and council tax (the expensive bills!!).Starting a new debt free journeyStarting Debt: £5,250Current Debt: £4,995.50Amount Paid: £254.50 Percentage Paid: 4.84%Emergency Fund: £3500 -
Morning Mrs, sounds like that cold is on the way out whoop! It'll be baby time soon!
Your poor friend. I'd suggest if it gets too bad with waiting for your milk to come in give baby a little formula feed and pump so your body knows baby was due a feed. This will relieve some of the stress of waiting but still let your body know it's needed. With DS1 he was in hospital for a week after birth and as they were monitoring his weight so closely this is what they had me do. Those first few days of waiting for it to come are hard and being stressed and tired really don't help it come in quicker. I hope your friend gets some help from the midwife today.
Enjoy your peace and quiet today....it could be your last for some time. Eeek! Xxemergency fund:£179/ £1000 Uniform/car fund:£

Well I slept through until 5. Things are definitely on the better, I'm sleeping better now that I have all pregnancy. Maybe it's my body storing up some energy for the labour! As long as I can have another 2 days before anything happens I'll be very happy!!
My sinuses are still blocked up, especially after sleeping, but I'm definitely better than I was. Dh has started sniffing now!
Ds is going on his first school trip today, his first time on a big bus! They'd definitely been discussing it at school yesterday as he came home saying he wanted to sit by the window! He's growing up too fast!!
Today won't be a nsd as have a food delivery this evening. Other than that there should be no spends today. I was looking at ds's school uniform yesterday, though, and over the Christmas holidays I'm going to have to buy him school jumpers in the next size up (already??), a pe kit (he doesn't do pe at the moment, will start after the hols) and I need to take him to be measured for shoes. Ouch!! Oh, and if he needs bigger shoes then he'll also need bigger trainers!! Yikes!Starting a new debt free journeyStarting Debt: £5,250Current Debt: £4,995.50Amount Paid: £254.50 Percentage Paid: 4.84%Emergency Fund: £3500 -
3 days since I posted here....oops! No baby news yet. Stronger braxton hicks and more frequent, but then everything stops and back to normal (what's that?). The cold went, but my nose is now super runny again! Grrrrrr! Didn't sleep well last night, was coughing, sniffing, etc. Things are better this morning, but now I'm shattered! Vicks is back out!!
Dh pay day today. I've also already checked ynab and the bank accounts. It's all looking good. I think I get my next pay Friday next week. I looked back on when it came in Christmas last year and it was a week early. A week early would be week Sunday, so I'm guessing it will be on Friday. It should be a pretty decent one (the best one I'm going to get on maternity anyway!!).
I need to pay for ds's next term activities today (swimming and rugby). Ouch!! I think I'm about £10 short in the pot, but I'll transfer that from elsewhere easily enough. I don't think I'm going to get much change from £100, but they are for classes up until Easter.
I sorted next week's grocery shop yesterday. It's full of convenience and 'nice' treat foods! A ready made lasagne, pasta sauce jars, duck pancakes, other sauce jars, etc. They are things I don't usually buy, but figured things are about to get busy here so convenience and treats will see us up until Christmas, then Christmas food and then January we will get back to normal!!! I've still got a few dump bags in the freezer though, so we should be healthy for at least part of the week! Had sticky garlic chicken from a dump bag this week. It was lovely. Had it with rice and veg Wednesday night, and then stir fry yesterday. Well, it was supposed to be a stir fry. Dh came home from work early and volunteered to cook. I explained what we were having, and that we had baby Corn in the fridge, broccoli and other veg in the freezer, the chicken and noodles. Instead of babycorn he cooked corn on the cob. We had one giant piece of broccoli each on the side of the plate (very overcooked), and then the noodles and chicken on the rest of the plate. Almost all the correct ingredients, but it definitely didn't resemble a stir fry! :rotfl: I must admit, I did laugh!! It was all eaten, though, followed by fruit salad and ice cream for pudding. We never have pudding, but we had a big tin of fruit salad in the cupboard expiring at the end of this month so decided to open that. There's enough left for tonight.Starting a new debt free journeyStarting Debt: £5,250Current Debt: £4,995.50Amount Paid: £254.50 Percentage Paid: 4.84%Emergency Fund: £3500 -
The 10th December is a good day for a baby to be born! My son is 17 tomorrow. He was born in 1999, 10 days late and weighed a whopping 9lb 12oz.
He's now 6' 1" and gorgeous.
Let's hope baby gets a move on so you can be home and all settled ready for Christmas0 -
Awww happy birthday to your son. Unfortunately mine didn't get the memo, and is still happily snuggled up inside!
Ouch, though. Everything is at the stage of hurting. Not contraction hurting though! Consultant on Monday so I'm hoping we'll have a plan set! I'm hoping even more that I don't make the consultant appointment as I'll be cuddling my newborn!!
Expensive day here yesterday. Paid for ds's rugby and swimming. It was around £98 for the 2. Then we received the bill for the car that was in the garage a couple of weeks ago. £180. Not far off £300 for everything yesterday. I could have gone clothes shopping, bought a few nice bits and then gone for a lovely meal with dh for that! The joys of being a grown up!! Thankfully we have the money to pay for it all.
Spent this morning in town shopping. Bought new drinking glasses ready for Christmas (I think someone eats ours). 50p each in Wilko. We got 6 drinking glasses and 2 pint glasses. It means our drinking glasses now all match :rotfl: We also stocked up on batteries (ready for Christmas!!), popped into M&S to buy a couple of food bits as had a £5 voucher from surveys, had a cake and drink break and then finished off in Tesco. Stocked up on pull ups (on offer and had a voucher), got a couple of other little bits and then filled the car up with petrol. We then got home, ate lunch and I went to bed for a couple of hours!!
Easy dinner tonight of pizza and 'Christmas shapes' (like alphabites, but Christmas trees!!), then a night on the sofa (or maybe bouncing on the ball!!) and tv. Exciting Saturday night here!
I've updated all today's spends on ynab, so can see what we have left for the rest of the month. Oh, and dh finished some overtime last night and brought home £100 extra. We've decided to split it so have into savings, and half into spends as it is a more expensive month and means we can have an extra Christmas takeaway at some point!!Starting a new debt free journeyStarting Debt: £5,250Current Debt: £4,995.50Amount Paid: £254.50 Percentage Paid: 4.84%Emergency Fund: £3500 -
Ahh so no Dec 10th baby!!
It's so hard waiting!! Or maybe baby has arrived already??0 -
I think you must be too busy cuddling a newborn to be on here!! If so I hope all went well and you're settling into life as a 4!0

Eeek!! Hope DS #2 has arrived safe and sound and that he's getting lots of Christmas cuddles. Xxx0

Ds2 is here!
I started labouring Monday night over night, then it all stopped. Started again all night Tuesday night. Pretty much stopped by Wednesday morning again so my waters were broken and I was put on the induction drip. 2 hours 45 minutes later he was here! It was quite an intense couple of hours! But, he's all scrummy and gorgeous. Was born Wednesday afternoon at half 4. We were all home by around half 8.
It's strange to think I only gave birth 12 hours ago! He's a little slow feeding at the moment (especially compared to ds1), but we managed colostrum which I'm really pleased about.Starting a new debt free journeyStarting Debt: £5,250Current Debt: £4,995.50Amount Paid: £254.50 Percentage Paid: 4.84%Emergency Fund: £3500
