A pound stretching maternity

Yeah, it best be a good gift for £8!! You can def have a little snifter of mulled wine, baby is about cooked by now. You'll just have to ignore the disapproving glances of others
. I saw a nice restaurant is doing a 5 course prosecco tasting dinner the Friday after my birthday in March. Asked DH if we could go but he said he wouldn't want to be seen taking a heavily pregnant lady out drinking
Don't get me wrong, I'm tee-total apart from a small glass for very special occasions whilst pregnant, but that dinner looks soooooo good!
I hope you all enjoy today and baby decides to exit sooner rather than laterMortgage Outstanding Nov '16 £142,772.75Mortgage Additional OPs 2017 Target £4522.80/ Actual £865.00GC Feb 0/£2000 -
Morning MrsS,
Glad the maternity pay was much better than you thought, that helps.
Hope DS enjoys seeing Santa and that you have a nice relaxing time.
Hope your sore throat eases and that you feel much better today xx0 -
I agree with you Katzen about the drinking. The rules were different when I was pregnant with ds1, which was only a few years ago. I hadn't touched a drop until recently this time, but did have a small glass of wine Friday night (and thoroughly enjoyed it!!). Many would disapprove I'm sure, and I'm not sure I could cope with doing it in public, but I've seen others do it and figure it's completely their decision.

Hey Mrs Save,
Little one is an angel. Big one was restless as a baby and took a lot of settling....still crazy now and doesn't sit still. This new little fella is going to be the sort to fall asleep in his dinner I'm sure. They are getting on great. DS1 is a bit heavy handed sometimes but he's just in that stage of learning about how his actions can effect others.
Eeek next week it could be any day now. Good Luck for when it all kicks off. Do you feel ready? Xemergency fund:£179/ £1000 Uniform/car fund:£

Ready as I can be I think! This week would be ideal as things get very busy with ds and school during the fortnight afterwards, but I'm not sure this baby is going to fit in with my plans :rotfl: It sounds like your ds1 is adapting well to his baby brother, especially being still young. It must be so tough for them.
Ended up walking around 2.5 miles yesterday. I'm just hoping it helped baby a little more to get into position and move down a little. I've got my next midwife appointment on Friday so I'm hoping he's still engaged and we're ready to go.
I felt rough after getting home (bad throat still around, I actually gave in and took paracetamol which I don't like doing when pregnant). Pretty much came straight up to bed and I'm still here now. Slept on and off during the night, but not great.
Santa was good yesterday. Ds really enjoyed and they did get a good gift. The gift would probably have cost £5-£6 in the shop (I know they get them cheaper) so wasn't too bad.
Right, my plans for today.......nothing. Ds is with mil and I'm going to rest to try and shift this virus. I'll check banking, but I think it's all up to date anyway. I may wrap the last 4 gifts (they're only little ones so won't take long).Starting a new debt free journeyStarting Debt: £5,250Current Debt: £4,995.50Amount Paid: £254.50 Percentage Paid: 4.84%Emergency Fund: £3500 -
So, the Tesco credit card statement is in for November. I'm aiming to get it around £800 a month (less would be good), but other than last month it has been over £1100 a month since March. Last month was slightly over £800, this month it is £886.94. Slightly higher than I'd like it, but still not bad considering. We have had car problems this month, which has set us back £85 (so far, waiting for a second bill which will be around double that  ).
I've looked at the statement to see where the spending has been........- Christmas gifts £166.54 (I've just bought 2 more, but otherwise I'm now finished so that should calm down a little),
- Car £85,
- Eating out (including just a cake and drink) £44.69 (not too bad, could be worse!!),
- Dentist £13.50,
- Christmas food and drink (mainly drink) £33.49,
- Food shopping (and too many silly top ups) £240.57,
- Petrol £96.14 (hoping to be slightly less for December),
- Other spends £202.26 (this is where we need to be careful).

Can't wait to hear your baby news!! Soon be here!
I hope soon is correct :rotfl:
Well it's middle of the night and I'm wide awake! This sore throat isn't shifting quickly,I did very little yesterday. I washed our bed clothes, remade the bed, made dinner, checked through finances, and browsed the internet. It was a nsd :j
I've got a food delivery coming tonight. I've just added cakes to it, as I've had a text from ds's school asking for cakes for their Christmas fayre. I really can't be bothered to make any, so bought a pack of 12 iced cupcakes for £1.80. It will still bring the food shop under budget. Other than that, my only real plans today are to sort the laundry and the food planning for this week (it's Tuesday and I still haven't done it!!). I've got ds at home with me, so we'll do something colouring for a competition he's got and then probably a film (or Paw Patrol!!).Starting a new debt free journeyStarting Debt: £5,250Current Debt: £4,995.50Amount Paid: £254.50 Percentage Paid: 4.84%Emergency Fund: £3500 -
Well it seems to be a Topsy and Tim day :rotfl: First load of laundry will be finished soon, meal planning has been done. I've also filled our weekly planner for the rest of the month so that whoever has ds when I'm having baby can see easily what he's got on. He's got a busy few weeks and will be shattered by Christmas holidays!!
I'm totally starving today. I usually have breakfast with ds (and he usually eats part of mine) and then I may have a snack with him, though not always. That will be it until lunch. Today I have eaten 3 breakfasts, cheese and crackers and an apple. This baby is hungry!!! :rotfl:Starting a new debt free journeyStarting Debt: £5,250Current Debt: £4,995.50Amount Paid: £254.50 Percentage Paid: 4.84%Emergency Fund: £3500 -
Had a few twinges/pains yesterday, but nothing came from them. I've also had a few braxton hicks during the morning, but again nothing more. This waiting game is not fun.
I'm home alone today so have chilled all morning. I plan on spending the afternoon doing the same!! There's nothing urgent that needs doing (well other than putting the slow cooker on and I've only just remembered......I hope the food tastes as good cooking on high instead of low......ooooops!!).
This week has been a low spend week (so far anyway!!). Ds has taken a cheque to school today for his Christmas concert, but will be getting most of the money back from grandparents. Other than that the only spend has been the food shop (where we ended up with a free pepper......dh took the shop in, and I just checked after the delivery man had gone and found a pepper that I haven't ordered or paid for on the table!).Starting a new debt free journeyStarting Debt: £5,250Current Debt: £4,995.50Amount Paid: £254.50 Percentage Paid: 4.84%Emergency Fund: £3500
