Having a nice quiet day today again. My parents have taken ds1 out for the day, so there are just the 3 of us at home, and the littlest has been asleep for most of the morning (the majority of the time in my arms.......lush!).
We paid the car bill yesterday. £450  At least it has gone and I can forget about it now!! I just hope nothing else goes wrong with the car. To be fair we've had this car 4 years, and it is 10 years old. It's the first time anything bigger has gone wrong so I can't really complain.
I've had an email from our gas/elec supplier this morning to tell us that our fixed offer is ending soon. We've had a very good price for the past year, and having a quick look around today it looks as if we'll be paying an extra £15 per month from now on. We've looked at sticking with our supplier and at switching, and I think we may switch to one with free electricity for one day each week. It can be our biggest laundry/tumble dryer day of the week and then 'top up washes' during the rest of the week. Saying that, though, we seem to be washing constantly at the moment!!!
We've got our Christmas grocery shop coming tomorrow. It's going to cost a fair bit more than our usual weekly shop, but we're going to be staying home over the whole of Christmas and will probably have quite a few visitors calling by so a full kitchen of nice, treat food will go down well!
I've got a slot for the Next sale tomorrow. I've already gone through the preview to see what I want to order, and have a budget to stick to. It'll be mainly clothes for ds1 for next Autumn/Winter, and then a few bits for ds2 for throughout the year and next Autumn/Winter. Dh is going to have a look at the preview today to see if there's anything that he needs, as he never buys new clothes. I'm not ordering any clothes for me. 1 week after having a baby is probably not the best time for clothes shopping!!Starting a new debt free journeyStarting Debt: £5,250Current Debt: £4,995.50Amount Paid: £254.50 Percentage Paid: 4.84%Emergency Fund: £3500 -
Sorted through money ready for January today. I'd initially aimed to have £200 saved by the end of the year. I then said I was managing to save £500. I've transferred money into savings accounts today, and I've managed £568!! I'm so pleased to be able to put that money away. It has been split between 2 accounts. I have £370 in the 'emergency fund' and almost £200 in another savings pot for when my maternity pay finishes in case I don't find another job straight away.
I think we're all ready for Christmas here. I'm going to cook beef and a gammon joint tomorrow ready for the post dinner buffets! The cupboards are overflowing with food and drink. Ds1 is super excited, ds2 is just super cute and cuddly. It's like he has always been here. He's gaining weight, sleeping well at night (was fed at 10pm, 2am and 5:30am last night......slept for the rest of the night!).

I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas. We did, though so much for dm and dmil 'helping' with the dinner. They basically spent the day treating ds2 like a yoyo, passing him back and forward. I did the whole bloody dinner! They did wash up between them, though. Dm did help a little, dmil did sod all! Ah well, the dinner was tasty, ds1 had a lovely day and was spoilt rotten!
The rest of the week so far has been about visitors. They feel never ending, but I know once this week is over things should quieten down.
Ds2 has just had a feed, and managed to wee over me mid nappy change! :rotfl: A quick nappy change turned into a whole pj/vest change for him and a pj change for me!
Financially, things seem fine. I paid the credit card bill yesterday. It was higher than I would've liked, but did include the 2 car bills. We were supposed to have a food delivery tomorrow, but I've cancelled it as I was just adding things to make it over £40. We've still got so much food here! I will just call in to pick up milk and something nice to eat New Year's Eve. I ordered 1 top in the sale yesterday for £11. It should arrive in store today and I'm hoping it'll fit so I can wear it out for dinner tomorrow. I'm at that horrible stage where maternity tops are like tents and normal tops show off the tummy! I'd bought a few tunic style tops when I was pregnant in bigger sizes for the first few weeks after baby, but they are far too big and baggy!

I picked up my sale top yesterday and it fits nicely (which I'm super chuffed about as it is in my pre pregnancy size). I was also wearing my pre pregnancy jeans yesterday (though they were my comfy pre pregnancy ones) and a pre pregnancy top. I weighed myself and I'm around half a stone heavier than I was when I fell pregnant. When I had ds1 I gained about 4 stone, so I'm super chuffed this time. Don't get me wrong, I'm still overweight, but not much more than I was 9 months ago!
Called in to Tesco to pick up a couple of bits. It came to just under £16. I also picked up some night time pull ups for ds1, that were half price in Boots. He wake up in the morning with his pull ups a little damp around half the time, so I'm not letting him wear pants to bed just yet.
We've had a couple of busy days of visitors. I was shattered by last night and was asleep before 9. Though I was awake at 10 for ds2's feed. He then slept until almost 3, so I'm happy with that. He woke for his next feed at 6. I definitely can't complain about that.
I have the health visitor calling around for a first visit this morning. We're then going out for a birthday lunch for my dad. Lunch is being paid for, so only need to pay for drinks.
Finances are all up to date. Dh's last wages of the year is coming in tomorrow, and then everything will be set for January.Starting a new debt free journeyStarting Debt: £5,250Current Debt: £4,995.50Amount Paid: £254.50 Percentage Paid: 4.84%Emergency Fund: £3500 -
Well done on your lovely new things fitting as you'd like. Sorry the Ms did not help as much as you'd have liked. Hope you are getting as many cuddles in as you can with the babe." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D
