  • We're due to travel in a few weeks, paid by credit card with Nationwide. Took all the advice on the forum and MSE website, eg quoting Section 75 - however Nationwide are being thoroughly unhelpful - they've told me it could take up to two months to get the money back, and even then it's not guaranteed that it will be refunded at all?!
  • Not read through the full thread so apologies if already covered.

I had accommodation with LCH. Travel insurance no joy, instigated chargeback with Santander(who say theyve been totally swamped and it isnt guaranteed). Then rang the hotel to be told its been paid and the booking stands. So I've no idea really whats going on. Oh and to cap it off we're going to Turkey :rotfl:

I've eventually managed to contact my hotel, due to go this Friday 22nd. They've charged me an extra £120 more than my original cost to LCH. I think is not too bad considering what some people are being asked to pay. So I'll just need to hope my credit card company reimburse my original one! My flights (Jet2) were all paid for thankfully.
So I'm going Friday not knowing if I'm even getting a refund
This has been so stressful and to top it off my son went to ayia Napa yesterday and ended up in hospital! So I NEED this holiday
  • I have just spoken to "Govern de les illes Balears" and they say as we booked outside of Spain that we cannot claim direct through then but have to go through someone in the UK.

    They could not say who.

The last comment defies belief, the government knew exactly what was going on with Low Cost and Low Cost used their 'licence' to promote their sales. The EU needs to really review their plans to allow every operator sell in every jurisdiction based on a licence issued anywhere.

There are no licences issued to Low Cost in the UK, the CAA made it clear on Friday night that there is nothing they can do

No idea if I will get any money back, particularly as I paid half with Amex and half with B of S debit card. Hopeful for the Amex half and I have to say that they have been very helpful on the phone. Bank of Scotland not at all interested.
  • Hi booked my Holiday last Thursday with lch to Mexico. I used my Natwest visa debit to pay. Natwest told (via visa dispute line 0345 3660391) me i should beable to get my money back and given me a template for chargeback to complete. However we still want to go on Holiday!
My flights are ok, airline confirms they are all there, paid and i can see them online.
My hotel is booked via HotelBeds (i saw this on my confirmation) i have a reference but no way of contacting them. Anyone spoken to HotelBeds?
I have called the hotel and confirmed i have a reservation and its "prepaid", but im not sure if this really means i'm ok. As many have stated i am expecting my reservation to get cancelled.
This thread has been really useful, please keep sharing any info which may help others :-)
  • Hi,

I have just spoken to Nationwide and explained the situation and that I paid for the holiday on my debit card, and they are going to refund the full amount.
This is pending investigation (according to their standard script they have to follow).
The woman I spoke to seemed to think that they will pass judgement in my favour and that they'll write to me to let me know either way.

    Good luck to everyone else!

Booked with Lowcostholidays 12th July and paid £1154 with Nationwide Visa credit card on 13th July. Spoke to airlines and we do not appear to have flights with them. Spoke with Nationwide this morning to lodge a dispute. Have been told by them that they will raise the dispute with LCH to get refund. If that doesn't happen then they will look to Section 75 of Consumer Credit Act. Not sure what happens if that doesn't work. I have already lodged a claim with the Administrators. Nationwide have frozen the credit card amount. Does anybody have any suggestions?
