Can I get independent car hire insurance USA?

Hello
I have been struggling with trying to find car hire for my holiday in USA next month.
If I look on the USA site the hire cost is $199 for the 2 weeks, but if I look on the same company site for UK citizen the cost becomes over £600! ( several company show the same result)
I have contacted 2 of the company's and they said that it doesn't included any insurance as US cit are covered under their own insurances?
I have looked around and found that I can get excess insurance but no one seems to offer car insurance that cover theft/collision.
So does anyone have any incite into combining the cheap car hire and independent insurance that will cover me for theft & collision ect?
Thank you

So would one of the policies above and the insurance that comes with the rental fully cover the hirer?
Would an excess policy also need to be bought?0 -

That's because he has misinterpreted the T&C. Actually they are looking at the wrong policy.
This is what is relevantCollision Damage Waiver (CDW) and Supplementary Liability Insurance (SLI) - Most car rental agreements in U.S.A., Canada, The Caribbean, South and Central America only offer limited or no third party liability insurance.
This policy provides cover for any amount you become liable for over and above the car hire company’s own policy up to US$100,000 CDW for damage to the rental vehicle and US$1,000,000 SLI for third party bodily injury and damage to material property.
This Policy also covers you for the insurance excess, which is the amount you are responsible to pay towards repair costs if the Rental Vehicle suffers any damage. (This is the portion limited to £6000)
The relevant part within the policy conditions:
Losses incurred during a Trip in or through USA and
Canada (including the Caribbean, South and
Central America), as a result of damage to the
Rental Vehicle up to the lowest of;
US $100,000 (or the equivalent in local
currency); or
the value of the Rental Vehicle; or
the value of the claim.
You are also covered for legal costs incurred in the
defence of any claim which may be the subject of
indemnity under this policy.
Too many cooks and all that.0
