Return address is China!?

If they are based inside Intu Derby I bet there one of those pop-up (slightly dodgy) concession stalls you see on the thoroughfares.
Hopefully we might have someone from Derby here who could confirm if they actually exist.
As far as returns are concerned if they are UK based (but in reality it looks like they're not) then you will be complying with your obligations by returning the item to their UK address, if they want it to go to China then they will have to pay the postage.0 -
I did look at that as the phone number comes up as the Lipsy phone number, but the address for Lipsy is slightly different on intu website
OP have you called the number or only been in touch via email
you could call intu westfield customer service and ask if the shop exists
Surely the name alone of the site should have put up some red flags to the OP's partner. I suppose common sense goes out of the window when there are "bargains" to be had.0 -
Did you really look at this website and think it was genuine or just see the price? This is a huge scam site and not even a good one

Looks more and more like a Chinese scam site, it wouldn't surprise me if the dress itself was fake as well.

Hi All,
Yes, big mistake on our part. There is no mention of it having been a Chinese seller up front however and my partner took it in good faith to be authentic and thought there would be some cover if things went wrong.
Clearly there are a lot of areas of suspicion granted.
In terms of the price, the dress was about 50 pounds less than you would expect. It turned out to be a replica dress (poor replica at that).
All said and done we are still 100 pounds out of pocket for a company that on quick glance appeared authentic. If there is anyway to get the money back I'd like to pursue. From posts above it's clear that return postage cannot be covered.
I have tried calling the phone number....it doesn't work. I will try to verfy with the shopping centre as to whether the business is operating there. Comms to date suggest that they are in the UK but coordinate the supply and delivery's direct from China for website items so hopefully if that's the case, we have a chance.
I'll post back once I have more details.
Thanks for digging into it further.0 -

By replica I assume you mean fake.
Didn't the name of the site ring any bells
Not sure what to do next0 -

I have to be honest and say that at first, very, very quick glance that site was never authentic. Designers such as the ones listed are very particular about who they supply their products to to protect their reputation. I am afraid it looks entirely a scam Chinese site to me.0

It looks very much like a Chinese scam site. I doubt they have any real presence in the UK.
From the domain records of the email address they're using, it's registered to:Registrant Name: li huang

In theory, you could travel to China and try to prosecute them under Chinese law (and that's assuming that you can even track them down). But, in reality, the only option is probably to get your debit card company to take responsibility for allowing a scammer to use their services. Have a look at your card issuers terms and conditions.
Maybe worth reporting them to Trading Standards, but I'm not sure if they would be able to do anything.0 -

If this was a UK company, you'd have the option of returning to a UK address given our laws. However given they dont seem to have a physical presence here, enforcing UK law against them might be tricky.
However you have nothing to lose by attempting a chargeback with your bank. You can also appeal to the financial ombudsman if the bank reject your claim. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0
