Anyone see the film 'Pearl Harbor' tonight?
I really enjoyed it, but I was shocked at the end when the American aircrews were sent in revenge on what amounted to little better than a Kamikaze mission.
They were to bomb Japan, and then continue on and crash land in Japanese occupied China, and hope they did not bump into any soldiers. It did not turn out quite as bad as the film suggested, but still seemed very wasteful of trained aircrews.

We managed to miss the weather throwing a tantrum. There was a massive storm where the girls were staying in west London whilst OH & I were staying in the City prior to the marathon; we didn't hear or see a thing but the girls were kept awake for half of the night. So sadly the air didn't clear & the temperature stayed right up; OH had to run very cautiously & didn't achieve his target time, but did finish safe & sound apart from a toe that's black & blue from having a half-full Lucozade bottle dropped on it.
Raining here now; the allotment looks like a jungle after a couple of weeks with little attention. We went to sort it out at lunchtime but soon got soaked & chilled through & had to call it a day. We do need a few halfway decent days to get to grips with the weeds; trying to weed solid clay in the rain is a bit - wearing!Angie - GC Aug25: £106.61/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0 -
Lots of people on the Konmarie thread ruefully wishing they hadn't put all their eggs in the TSB basketIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0

Admits to having been wondering for some time why anyone would go with/stay with the TSB.
Always good prepping to keep a bit of a weathereye on what's happening with banks imo - particularly ones own or one that is being considered for swopping to.
I know I'd been with the Co-op Bank for many years/decades and when the "bad vibes" started about it = I was outa there just in case.
I take the view that when the household income is a single persons and low level - you gotta watch what anyone might get up to regarding it one way or another - as you might end up not just losing money that's rightfully yours. You might land up losing money you need to be the difference between surviving at a just about passable standard of living (albeit not the one you always thought you'd have:cool:) or a "bare bones" standard of living.0 -
Once again, as I have noticed before, the chaos is around payday.
true but it might be because of the number of people logging on at that time to see if their pay has gone in rather than anything sinister. the amount of compensation they will have to pay would far exceed any theoretical benefit from keeping hold of money for a day or so.

It also pays to have accounts with more than one bank.0 -

And please spare a thought for people like my son who's on the phone lines for TSB. None of it is his doing but he's taking all the flak :eek::eek:Aiming for a Champagne Lifestyle on a Lemonade Budget

Poor chap, I do feel for him. Even if people aren't outright abusive, their stress must communicate itself to him. Hope to heaven it's sorted soon. At least with May 1 being on a Tuesday we don't have a bank holiday weekend coming up this week. That would make things even worseIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0
