I had one last year and it was fine, honestly. The worst bit was a pounding headache from the fasting, the rest was no problemIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0

With Addisons you have to stay in hosp for 24 hours on an IV of steroids and fluids. Big production lol. I'm just going to hope and trust that I never, ever need one!0

Please don't ever refuse a colonoscopy. I have had quite a few and as long as you follow the prep to the letter and take the sedation you will be fine. Mardatha you have had much worse!0

Apparently I have a "narrow and tortuous" colon. I did get a bit fed up when they said cheerfully "Sorry, we're just trying to get round this corner."
Next day I went to buy some new shoes, and learned why you're told not to make any important decisions less than 48 hours after sedation. I bought two pairs. Neither pair fitted, yet somehow I convinced myself they'd be fine! Both had to be taken back to the shop. Imagine if I'd been buying a house or something :eek:0 -
Had 2 colonoscopies in 2014, first one wasn't clear......had the sedation and didn't find them too troublesome, part of a Bowelscreen programme, I need to go back in 2019 for another check.....am grateful for a free procedure which reassures me on my bowel health.
So, nothing to be concerned about Mar!

Much admiration to those who go through with it. I'd like to think I would ... I think I would, yes ... but my heart is with Mar!2023: the year I get to buy a car0

I must admit it is preferable to the possible alternative!0

The procedure itself is manageable - the worst part is the bland cardboard diet you have to follow two days before, then the filthy cocktail of Satan you have to shove down your neck the day before to clear you out. The good part is that gorgeous cup of tea and round of toast you have afterwards. One life - your life - live it!0

Woah now hold on. Back up a bit if you don't mind and try to educate me. Do all older people have to have one of these things? Second question - how can I avoid one
They tell me we learn summat new every day. I tell them that I could have done without learning about this. :eek:0
