It's a free world and anyone can express an opinion. We don't have to agree with yours and you don't have to agree with ours however I like to think that we don't normally pour scorn and derision on each other if we come across subject matter we don't subscribe to. In general we treat each other with mannerly and civil words so it's always going to stand out like a sore thumb when a poster who is not a regular poster on this thread comes in and comments less than kindly. There is room for us all though and diversity of opinion is what makes us grow!

I just replied to your post that one should not believe what one reads in the newsaper.
(8 other MSe'rs thanked it so are you going to rant against them?)

    Hardly scourn and derision;)

There is room for us all, but not apparently on this thread.

Is there a post count I have to achieve to be able to post on this thread?

We're a group of people who have seen difficult times in our lives and prep to bridge difficult periods that may come in the future. It's called learning from our mistakes. I am certainly not sane. Life has dealt me a few cruel blows but I am a strong, proactive individual who doesn't have any sense of entitlement.

We find stories of the far fetched variety rather funny here. Non of us believe what we read (that is a particular prepping no no ;) ) but when we read something different, a bit of scare mongering or even something terribly shocking, we post it and do you know what normally happens? We have a debate which is interesting and meets our interests, heck we might learn something from it too!

blindman, enjoy your Saturday evening and relax.

Oh my word have you got us wrong in your head sunshine, of course we'd look after you come Armageddon in the same way as we'd look after any other person who needed looking after. No one would be left to fend for themselves if even the least prepared of us had resources enough to share. That's what prepping is about not self only preservation but keeping skills and methods alive in case our lovely convenient modern world should suffer a blip that makes it falter even for a few days. We'd not see anyone go without or suffer we're human beings and should the co op ever not be in a position to sell us that milk you mention because the electricity is down and the tills won't work (has happened here) well, I have many packs of dried milk in my store cupboard and you're welcome to share them if you need them!

If that post was taken as a rant petal, you should see me when I'm really cross and not just mildly amused!

    Post reported for personal abuse:mad:

Think you should tell that to Mrs (I'm assumng here) L:cool:

Not so much of a debate is it though?

As a "newcomer" I'm abused and derised.

It's very hard to get the tone just as you mean when communicating through a forum post. I thought at the time all the laughing emojis following the actual words you had written came over as a bit sneering but I can see you probably meant it as just lighthearted.

Just as we are lighthearted when we post links to daft stories (usually on the Daily Wail) about the zombie apocalypse.
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

I am not a regular poster on this thread, but when I have posted, I have always been made to feel most welcome. Like emails, posts can come across as, let us say, more abrupt than if a discussion were held in person. I therefore suggest, blindman, that you read through your posts here as what you have written does come across as quite a rude interruption as opposed to an attempt to join in the discussion.

No, it's not much of a debate now unfortunately.

    As a newcomer you...

and you suggest you're derised and abused?

Maybe if you had joined in the thread with your opinions instead of a quick quip that has been interpreted as being mocking by at least 3 individuals, you may have had a different experience here. We're known for disagreement. We disagree with each others views all the time.

I wonder what happened differently this time?

Thank you for reporting the post. The MSE team shall be along shortly and delete the whole conversation. It will be as if you were never here blindman. For what it's worth I would like to see you stick around and put forward your substantiated views of disagreement because all I can work out is you don't believe what you read in the papers and that as you aren't a prepper you are sane. I put forward that it was you who was derisory in your comments but I'm not one for splitting hairs.

Ack, say what you like in reply to me. I won't respond as I have a Saturday night to get one with and I now have water again. G'night :)
