Oh, we also made one of the little Santa sleighs made out of chocolates and sweet for our daughter's advent hamper. Which I'm just going to wrap in cellophane and she will get tonight.

It sounds so much grander (and expensive!) than it actually is! It has pretty much the same stuff every year: a Christmas storybook compendium, the night before Christmas book, her Christmas cup, Elf of DVD, Santa Clause the movie, a few tree decorations for when it's ready to go up, and a few other bits and pieces - all of which are put in the loft and then brought out as part of tradition. I then add in her advent calendar, some hot chocolate and some sweets - which this year, comes in the form of the aforementioned Santa and his sleigh. I just think it's a nice way of presenting the calendar and also making sure that she doesn't get few up with the books and dvds as she otherwise might if she had instant access all-year round.
  • Hi all! It's the 1st tomorrow! DS (5 years) is super excited. He loves Christmas and we've written our cards, bought all our presents, I've wrapped most of them and rearranged the lounge for the tree. Everything has been put on hold since Sunday due to a stomach bug. Looking forward to getting it out and decorating it. Re sticker and colouring books, my son and nieces love them are they're 5, 6 and 7. The 7 year old is very creative and artistic like her mum though. My boy much prefers words to artwork, but has colouring phases and always loves stickers.

Loving the fudge recipes, I normally make a peanut butter fudge but DS doesn't react well to nuts so was thinking about making something else. I make Marshmallow at Christmas. Always a huge hit, but best done with plenty of time and no little fingers around. Obviously not making anything for the time being!!

Well day 1 was opened at 6.30am with "Jingle Bells" playing in the background. I think princess was a bit confused by the stickers, but went along with it as I asked her where she wanted to stick them on the festive poster I had printed. Maybe after another few days she'll get used to the ritual. She liked the calendar itself through, was pointed to the characters on it and renaming them (gingerbread man is "baby"!).

I left the chocolate in the boxes, it's too early in the day and on reflection I'm not sure this is a habit I want her to acquire! Her mum can have it at the end of the day if she so wishes.

GH had a simple chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge recipe recently, not online unfortunately so I've typed it out below:

    Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge.
Best served straight from the freezer. Makes about 48 squares.

In a pan, gently melt 150g (5oz) milk chocolate, 50g (2oz) golden syrup, 50g (2oz) unsalted butter; cool for 10min then stir in 400g (14oz) crunchy peanut butter and 75g (3oz) chocolate chips. Spread into a 15x20.5cm (6x8in) lined tin and freeze until solid.

The Gh ones I could find online are here.

  • Oh that's so kind, I have one I love making, but DS throws up if he eats nuts so I shan't make it this year, I saw the fudge recipes before and I have a tin of condensed milk so when we have all clear from the tummy bug we can make some.

Finished my wrapping today except for 3 gifts that I am still waiting to be delivered. I have a few gifts for me because DS and I spend the morning just together and he got upset one year because I didn't have anything - he really is rather adorable. I don't wrap mine though. I have to draw the limit somewhere!

1st December and all main pressies bought, just stocking pressies to finish. I have spent ages wrapping pressies this evening and only have hubby's and brothers to wrap but as they were both due home from work I have left them for another day. I had a load of pressies to wrap for church kids (paid for from funds - and really pleased with what I got for the money, love hunting for deals on those). I have also done the pressies for my cousin's and their families as they are visiting my dad next week and I need to get them to dad on Sunday. I am really pleased as I am usually doing all this late the night before they are needed.
Hubby will wrap and post his family gifts at the weekend, althogh nephew and niece have gifts from Amazon that were delivered to his sister at work, she will wrap and add tags we have sent.
Stockings for 4 are in hand just a few more bits needed for each one (mine is complete apparently) and I am waiting for 4 bags from seasalt offer to arrive to put them in. The last will be Christmas tree shortbread for stockings but will need to be made on 23 rd 1 so I will be wrapping that an Christmas eve.
    Turkey booked!
Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"
  • Decorations are up here now. Zoe is now three months old and staring at everything and obsessed with it all. I got some things in the sales last week so she's got presents put away for next year now already!

Got some more baking done. Bits I can freeze down and bring out to defrost and warm up for Christmas. Still feel like there's loads to do even though there isn't.

I love the Russian dolls! You have inspired me to do something similar with chocolate tree decorations (I saw bags of them in varous sizes in Poundland yesterday), whoever wants them can help themselves after the day once they have served their purpose.

  • VfM4meplse I have a similar plan using mini marshmallows to represent the snow and Lindt Chocolate bears,
