  • Hi everyone, just updating that I have paid £29.66 off very tonight, reducing the balance down to £780 and avoiding any APR being adding to that particular item. Slowly selling things, made £5 yesterday, not loads I know but it helps and its also pays for one day at holiday club for my daughter through the summer hols, so it all helps I guess! Hope everyone is having a good week!

hope ur going on ok, it sounds like the insurance company are now thinking that this could be an expensive claim and are doing it all as dot the i's and cross the t's, which doesn't help your situation.

From myself I had 2 car accidents, both non-fault - the 2nd one I was off work for 4 mths, although I had some company sick pay, I was losing overtime etc, - that was all added into the claim.

I would def push for an intrimum payment.

The ssp - it may be that hubby had a tax rebate on the last mths wage, have you checked the wage slip.

Sounds like your doing well with the debts, every penny paid all helps xx

  • Thanks for the reply mum2one - we have now received a medical report which means he should see a specialist soon and following that they will pay him some money so fingers crossed things move quickly!

I have been trying to de clutter and sell, this week I have made £21.75 - I am also waiting for 4 items to be collected, once they have that will be another £24.50 so i'm feeling happy with that. Trying to kill two birds with one stone on the selling and de cluttering front.

Hope you're all having a good weekend x

  • Happy Sunday Everyone!

This morning I have scanned several receipts into receipt hog, and carried on with my selling mission. I now have a total of £82.75 (subject to the collection of items)

Tommorow I plan on ringing HMRC to chase up a marriage allowance application I made a few months ago now, we also claimed for last year and I was told my husband would receive a cheque but we're still waiting...

Big shop today so currently doing a menu plan / shopping list!

    Xx

    Hi AH

You sound like you're setting things in motion with selling stuff and de-cluttering. I got about £175 in July through eBay/gumtree sales. It went towards my overdraft (now cleared) and I also bought a second hand wardrobe for my son.

I think I've run out of things to sell now. I need to look in the loft for any other bits I can get rid of.

I do a few surveys but find them very boring and slow to accumulate points/money.

I also do a weekly meal plan and then shop with that in mind. I spend about £50-60 a week at Aldi. I used to go to the co- op and buy extra milk and always end up buying chocolate, wine etc - so now I buy extra milk at Aldi and just avoid the corner shop.

Hoping you hear from the insurance company soon. Keep posting

    Louby
  • I have called the HMRC today to chase up a Marriage Allowance application that I made a few months ago. I was advised that the application hadn't been finalised but that it would be sent through this week and should be done within 5 working days. I should then get a letter and my husband should receive a cheque for a refund for last year when we didn't claim. Fingers crossed we get that soon.

I also have abit of money sat in Topcashback account (about £20) so I am going to transfer that across. Think its about £13 once they have taken their "fee" off me but like my husband says, its better than nothing!!

More items being collected today that I have sold and lots more to advertise, just got to hope I can keep up the momentum.

  • Today's update... another couple of bits sold today. Doing well with the selling and decluttering, in the past me and my husband have been known to just throw things out as its "easier" but this past week we have made nearly £90 (so far) so just have to keep going with it!

Tried to transfer money from topcashback, however I had to change my bank details as my card was no longer valid and as a result I can't transfer any money for the next 72 hours!! so will get that done at the end of the week!

Also remembered I still have to submit my expenses form for work so will try and get that done tomorrow!

Off to bed shortly to read my book, started it on mothers day and still not got to the end of it! too many stresses and distractions I think.

    Will update again soon x

  • Quiet day today as I have been at work. I managed to put my expenses form in, so that should get paid into my account soon - its just under £30.00 so it all helps. Someone has been to collect something so that's another couple of pound in the pot. Still waiting on some other people to pay for items too, other selling seems to have slowed down slightly but I keep on trying...

Hope everyone is cracking on ok!! x

  • Been at work today, I don't usually work Friday's but was asked at the last minute yesterday if I could do a few hours, so will be a little extra in the pay packet this month.
Monthly payment for one of the credit cards has gone out today too. I've decided I will post my balances at the end of each month to keep track of them. Everything still at a standstill here with regards to finances and my husband's solicitor seems to have fell off the face of the earth, so frustrating!! Think we will write an email this weekend as ringing him hasn't helped at all this week. Never been in a situation like this before so not sure what to expect with regards to contact, time frames etc... maybe we are just being impatient? I really don't know, but for now we will keep plodding on!

Unfortunately its the age old question - how long is a piece of string, as the solicitor would have to contact the other side - depends how proactive the other side is.
