  • Hi Louby, thank you for the welcome!

Hi Princesssparkle, he is ok thank you, he has been having physio and although he doesn't seem any better, he's not any worse either, he is stuggling with his mobility and he has been referred for an MRI scan, actually hoping it might find something so at least then we will know what it is and what course of action to take.

I had a quick scan of the challenge board yesterday and signed up for an emergency fund challenge, set myself an initial goal of £500, will be a long / slow process but really want to try and get something in place in case something like this happens again.

Also went on stepchange last night and completed the questionnaire on there regarding money and debt, it put my payments in itself and a lot of them were much more than what i actually pay a month so it made my situation look worse than it was, maybe I completed the survey wrong or something, i think i will have another look when its not so late and i'm not so sleep deprived!

Hope you have all had a good weekend x

  • Thanks Beanielou, will do!

Forgot to mention earlier that I saw a post elsewhere regarding an app, where you scan your receipts and get given "coins" and then once you have so many you can convert them to cash, you can't make masses of money but for how simple it is to do it then you might as well have a go, I started today :)

  • Hi Ramblehan - thank you for the welcome :)

Quiet day today, last day of annual leave before being back at work tommorow. Got a couple of receipts to input into my receipt hog account and also made a monthly payment off one of the credit cards. I must make the time to include everything into signature so its clear what I am dealing with!

    Hope you are all well!

  • Hi everyone and happy Saturday to you all! I haven't posted for a few days, and there's a few reasons why, one being I have had a headache for a couple of days now and looking at screens etc has been quite difficult on my eyes and also I am coming to the end of a course so all my pockets of time are taken up completing essays and coursework, but also I just haven't got that much to share with regards to money as it doesn't feel like much as happened, as I have mentioned previously my husband is currently off work so I don't feel we can do much in the way of over paying, at the moment we are just trying to get through each month. Not much planned this weekend, my children have a got a couple of birthday parties to go to so that will keep us busy! Hope you all have lovely weekends planned!

  • Hi Anxious

I found your diary and can totally sympathise with the feeling of :( over finances.

I can honestly say if I hadn't discovered this site and the vast amount of non judgemental advice, support and information on here, I dread to think what state I would have been in by now.

My family would have probably been peeling me of the walls by now.

Stick around and every penny or pound you pay towards your debt is a penny down and not up.

I have slipped backwards more than once and have even neglected my diary. But I find that updating regularly and just rambling on keeps me motivated and on track.

Set yourself small targets and goals and work towards those. It really helps when you are able to reach a small goal. However long it takes to get there.

Shopping lists and budgets are a godsend. Its so easy to just go to the supermarket and think i'll have one of those and oh these are on special i'll have 2 of those. Trust me I know :rotfl:

Do you shop in the cheaper supermarkets?

I now only buy what I know we need. You will be surprised how much you can save.

I hope your hubby is feeling better.

Good luck on your journey, you are certainly not alone

I have subscribed to your diary and will be right behind you, cheering you along, good luck :D

    Loving the signature, how true.

  • Hi everyone,

thank you to those who have posted and for all the advice, it is really appreciated, I have been quiet for a short while as not much to share at the moment to be honest :-/ but its pay day tommorow - hooray! so will hopefully be able to update more, I really want to keep this diary going though so will try to post every couple of days even if its just to say a quick hi, and show I am still here.

I did a meal plan last week and a shop at Aldi, managed to do it all under £40 which was great as we have got into the habit of popping in to the shop on the way home and easily spending £10-£15 - so we are going attempt to do it that way more often and get a set day per week that is "big shop day!"

My youngest daughter is potty training at the moment, she's doing so well and I am also excited that its the end of nappies! (with the exception of night time) i've spent the last 5 years buying nappies (as I have an older daughter too!) and im very much .looking forward to not having the expense any more.

Now the holidays are upon us I am going to attempt to sell some bits and bobs - will let you know how I get on with it!

Anyway sorry for the rambles - will try to be better at updating the diary x
