My Not So Secret Diary...

Evening everyone,
I've been an on and off lurker of MSE for a while now and finally decided to create my own diary after spending the last few days reading some of the diaries out there. I am hoping that by having somewhere to document things it will help me to keep focussed. Things aren't too good here at the moment, we have around £15, 000 worth of debt, my husband is the main earner and he is currently off work on long term sick so things are pretty stressful but we keep on plodding along! I have wrote a snowball plan so have an idea of what I need to pay off first and by when so that is what I am following at the moment.
We were doing well up until my husband going off work and now I can see the debt increasing, unfortunately we don't have an emergency fund and he is only entitled to statutory sick pay, which isn't much at all
so it feels like we aren't left with much option but to borrow *sigh*. It has made me rethink our savings though and its made me more determined to get some regular savings in place to try and build up an emergency fund but that will have to wait for now.
Anyway I don't plan on going on and on tonight, but I really wanted to get this diary up and running, if you got this far thank you

Thank you Florence, I am amazed by how long some people's diaries have been running for, really hoping I can stick to this one, its not easy to talk to people about money and its getting harder to keep it all bottled up! xxNo one is going to stand up at your funeral and say

Hi anxious- great name btw.
Post up an SOA to the debt free wonnabe board and you will get loads of tips and recommendation to save money.
The old style board is fantastic for meal ideas and money saving tips and tricks.

Not much to say for today, feel like its all a bit of a waiting game. As I said previously my husband is currently off work, this is due to a car accident, the other driver accepts liability so insurance are covering his loss of earnings (or at least they should be!) all feels like a slow and complicated process but he has a solicitor sorting it out now so if we can just keep our heads above water in the mean time then eventually we should get the money that he is owed. It's a pretty stressful situation to be in.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend xxNo one is going to stand up at your funeral and say

Hi Anxious
It's very supportive here, everyone chips in and offers advice and support.
I second doing a SOA. I did one and had tons of advice. You do have to be really honest with yourself (which I wasn't initially) because they seem to know your're not giving the whole truth.
Good luck and keep us posted0 -
Hi AH,
Sounds like a really stressful situation you're in. It's going to be tough but you'll come out the other end. Keep coming hereit will help & we'll all support you
How's your husband doing?
xoxo PP0
