You do not have to say anything to the TV Tax collector. They coerce people to sign their forms, then they take you to court.

They criminalise more women in the UK than any other organisation. Join the TV Tax resistance.

Tv Tax remains unpaid. Remember to gain access to your house, they need a warrant. They have to prove to a magistrate that an offence is being committed. To do this, they have to trespass on your property.

Next time when they call. Keep mum.

I don’t pay TVL and if they do knock at my door I will say the owner is not here or I don’t speak English.
I don’t understand why pay this TV tax?

It will be to legally access the BBC iPlayer for the purpose of consuming BBC content.

Wait a minute, I made an effort -

Thats a problem right there. One can only enable the ITV and CH4 YouView Players if one has an aerial connected, as they are region locked and only activated via a DTT (Freeview) signal check.

It's only an offence to watch or record TV broadcasts. It's not an offence to hook up an aerial for the purposes of region locking of catch-up players.

The aerial can/should be detached after the players self-install, as it is no longer required.

Totally agree. But TVL Prosecutions love technicalities like that don't they?

Yes, in the sense of trying to persuade people that what they are doing is illegal so that they sign the confession forms.

The complexities rarely appear in the final Summons, strangely. ;)

    Ha ha!

But listen, the OP does have a problem in that YouView boxes aren't streamers (such as say a Now TV box). They are a state of the art Hybrid, which use a combination of DTT and the internet to fully function and deliver their wares. To such an extent I never recommend a YouView box where an aerial connection isn't available.

They CAN function without one certainly, but at no where near the true capacity of what they can do and nor/neither with further certainty of usage, either. But ultimately I agree. I doubt this will see the Courts, either.

Think is... I have a Youview Box. Mine was "free" from Talktalk. It's normal existence is no aerial, no recordings on the HD, just Ethernet and Catch-up.

I've had it for several years now, and if I were planning a Legally Licence Free installation now, I'd probably get something else, but it certainly does the job. I wouldn't ever expect to have to explain or justify that decision in Court (the very suggestion seems ridiculous). I doubt that a typical Magistrate would understand, anyway (perhaps that is part of the problem).

Then I apologise for being ridiculous.

Come on - do you really think that Magistrates would concern themselves over whether one had a Youview box, a Laptop or a Now TV box - or that they would even know the difference?

This is part of the problem, in fact, that there is generally no physical evidence of evasion being captured by TVL, and none required by the Courts.
