  • i may of lost 2,500 pounds plus the deposit of 280 pounds . i set up finance with there company and put the deposit on the credit card .i am still currently waiting to here from the finance company and credit card company.
  • I also placed an order for a table to Dinerstore on 15th January, i did a telephone order and paid £149 on my maestro debit card i then received a confirmation email from a lady called Sue who confirmed my order and receipt of payment. I was told delivery would be 2-3 weeks, I still have not received my order after about 14 weeks. Sue has range me on a few occasions saying the order was delayed and each time offered me a £25 discount, totalling £50, i also received a letter confirming this. After further delays i rang dinerstore and spoke to Sue on 28th march and was told the order had now arrived in their warehouse and offered me a delivery date of Sat 5th April I couldnt make this as i was at a wedding and she said she would ring me Mon 31st march to arrange a deliver date that week. I have since heard nothing and i have tried to contact them by email, phone, fax and letter with no joy. I am absolutely fuming about this as like everyone else has said they must have known full well i wasn't going to receive this table and it was all lies and deceit. I am so scared now of purchasing online as this is the 2nd time this has happened to me in 6mths i purchased bedroom furniture from a company called CHEAPERFURNITURE.COM and never received it i involved trading standards and unless i was willing to go to court there was no more they could do for me. I am so so disappointed as i can't afford to lose money like this!!!!!
  • i would just like everyone to no that dinrstore is not insolvent as it is'nt a ltd company and this person is a sole trader i have since found out.so for those of us looking to get our money back have little or no chance.
  • I have been given this guys home address by local trading standards:

    Mr P Jeffereys
    16 Tillotson Holme
    Luddendenfoot
    Halifax
    HX2 6AF

it appears that he is a sole trader and owes an awful lot of money to a lot of customers and about the same amount to suppliers. The otlook is not to good if your waiting on good.

But please mail Mr Jefferys and let him know how you feel. I will be.

That is when I ordered my dining set. I was given three delivery dates. It never turned up. I was told it was in a container in the middle east....

I was offered a refund of £25 twice, which I never got. I wanted the table for Christmas, had got rid of mine as they assured me that it would be delivered on the 21st December 2007. Didn't turn up of course. When I phoned them they would pass me about and say that they would phone back, never did of course.

To my mind this is a scam, if they continued to take customers money, knowing they were not going to deliver the goods. I can't see how it can be anything else.

They were obviously doing the same thing as far back as OCT 2007.
Suppose at least I can stop trying to find them now. My money is lost as I paid on a Solo card.
  • Just to add, that I have now found out that my name is not on the list of creditors. So maybe you should phone and check if you are. I know my money is lost but even so you should be on the list.

  • Hi all

I have just been on the phone to Begbies Traynor, 36 Clare Road, Halifax HX1 2HX Tel 01422 348 448. Of whom some people seem to think are acting on behalf of Dinerstore, they have informed me today that they are not acting for P Jefferys, they gave him some initial advice and that was to go bankrupt and until he has been to County Court and signed papers we will hear nothing.

I am assuming from that, (I may be wrong) that they may not ever be the liquidators??

Can anyone tell me how to trace who the liquidator/recievers will be, as my credit card company (HSBC) tell me I need a letter from them if want my money back?

Thank you and good luck to all trying to get a refund.

I remember starting this thread last year. Something seemed quite fishy about this bunch, I'm so glad I avoided them.

I'm sorry to hear of all the problems that others have had. Hope so good comes of the closure of this bunch of scallys.

Hi, I phoned the same people on the 23/04/08 as I said in my post above this one and they said they were acting on behalf of P.Jefferys, that they were compling lists of customers and letters would be sent out shortly about the situation. I wasn't on the list and they took my details and said that I would recieve a letter soon. I have to admit that when the woman took my details she didn't ask for my postcode and was whispering to someone beside her, I felt she hadn't really bothered to take my address down.

Also the address for the company on my invoice is not a shop but a unit on a industrial park. Which is: Unit W6. Tenterfields Park. Halifax. West Yorkshire. HX2 6EQ I did find the telephone number for that unit but they had never heard of Dinerstore.

I told the lady at the supposed recievers that I felt that there was a scam being run and who should I talk to but she said that they were acting on behalf of Mr Jefferrys and couldn't help me.

Makes you wonder just how many people have lost their money.
  • I'm another angry customer of Dinerstore. I currently have a damaged dining table which was delivered in February. Just when I thought I was getting somewhere regarding the delivery of a replacement they go bust! It transpires, talking to other retailers, that the replacement item was unlikely to have been ordered from the supplier in the first place. All in all Dinerstore have sold me a £400 box of fire wood. Great. Will try to get the money back but I wont hold my breath.

I have subsequently bought another table from a company called www.furniturestar.co.uk . The service has been great and I now have a dining table that's in mint condition. I gave them a bit of a grilling prior to ordering to ensure the Dinerstore experience would not be replicated and they came up trumps. Definately worth a try.
