Anyone heard of Dinerstore of York?

• Like so many others I also have also been ripped off by Dinerstore. My order was placed on the 6th March, and you guessed it, I'm still waiting. The decision by these companies to go into receivership is not made at a drop of a hat, it must have been on the cards for months before it actually happened, so how come these companies are still allowed to take our money under false pretences, knowing full well that they have no intention of providing the service.

Why is their web site still up and running. Its about time that the Government legislated to protect the public from this sort thing, especially pensioners who can ill afford the lose.

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email !!!!!!.
• Did you pay by credit card? If so contact your credit card company asap as you might be able to get your money back. I always use my credit card for all purchases over £100 because of the added protection it gives me.
I am really sorry to hear about your circumstances with dinerstore. I too have been ripped for £550. . I ordered some chairs back in October and they sent them but three were damaged, they kept telling me they were on order so i spoke to the owner peter jeffreys on the phone last week and he sounded like he was full of s--t.. I knew then he was lying and that i had probably lost my money. I know there is an act of 1974 the banks have to honour a refund to you if you paid with a credit card . I paid with a hsbc maestro card so i think i have blown it.Please let me know if you find any info out .and will too. take care .

I have also been ripped off by dinerstore I lost 300 pounds that I saved hard for to get a table and chairs what makes me mad is I spoke to them two weeks ago and they said that my table would be coming on the 5th april probably knowing full well they had no intentions of delivering it well I just hope mr jefferies can sleep at night because he intentionally took my money, this is also the second time this has happened to me I was unfortunately caught up in the farepak scandel losing another 400 pounds It has really put me off ever buying anything that I need to wait for again. There should also be something in the law that companies are not allowed to take orders and money knowing full well their company is in trouble. I paid with my debit card so I don't think i'll get anything back.

• Dinerstore is now in the hands of its Insolvency Practitioner Mr Peter Sargent of Begbies Traynor, 36 Clare Road, Halifax HX1 2HX Tel 01422 348 448.

Details of all Dinerstore's outstanding customer orders/refunds due to its customers are now in the hands of that company and customers whose orders have not been fulfilled will hear shortly from that company regarding this matter.

Please be advised that Dinerstore is not a "scam" but a genuine company which is now insolvent. The matter is in hands of professionals to contact all creditors regarding settlement of outstanding debts.

Thank You.

I don't doubt for a moment that this was a genuine company (although a pretty shabby one from some of the posts here).

You must realise that when people have their money taken (especially just before a company goes under), they will certainly feel they have been scammed by the company in question. I'm not surprised that people are posting that they think this was/is a scam.

If it is a Visa debit card, you should be able to get the same protection as a Visa credit card. I know that others have paid by Visa debit card and have been refunded by Visa when there was a problem.
