Sorry, OP, that's hilarious so had to laugh. We bought double oven, hob, fridge/freezer & cooker hood from AO, I can't think of a negative thing to say about the company.

To be frank, I'd have been on the phone to AO while the idiot delivery guy was still standing in my kitchen, so they could explain to him EXACTLY what he was expected to do BEFORE he left for the next delivery.

Water on the floor? Afraid I don't believe AO have any service you can pre book & pay for that includes mopping the floor, or cleaning up of any description really.

Deliver, unpack, fit, remove packing & old appliance, yes. Wiping up floor, cleaning grubby fingerprints, dusting etc etc.....no, I think not.

Problem was I wasnt there. I did speak to driver 5 mins before he turned up and asked him to ring me if there were ANY problems - he didnt bother.

Not on about mopping up. BUT reasonable care should be taken when disconnecting - its obvious some water will leak out - easily solved by putting something underneath. I spoke to someone in work who had a similar fridge taken away (currys this was) and guy turned up ready with a bowl to drain water into and blue roll stuff to wipe up. Not difficult.

My experience of AO was exactly the opposite.

Ordered a new oven and decided not to pay for the collection of the old appliance as we had a means of getting rid of it.

Almost as soon as the order was placed I received a call from AO to confirm the order and delivery time slot. There was the usual insurance sales pitch but it was a soft sell and no thanks was accepted as no thanks.

The man asked if I wanted the old oven taken away for free which I gratefully accepted.

The delivery team were on time and were pleasant and helpful, taking away the old oven and the packaging from the new one.

Don't think it's fair to tar AO with this. Clearly their delivery teams are very different in their attitudes and the way they do their jobs. I'm sure if you contact them about this the situation would be dealt with satisfactorily.

Yes to be fair customer services before were great. I do think I just had a bad delivery guy - late in the day wanted to go home.

But would I order from AO again? Probably not in case I got the same fella.
  • AO are OK if you want an item delivered and it works. If you want any customer service, aftersales or have a problem with/after installation, then they aren't a good choice. But, you get what you pay for.

People want John Lewis service with AO prices.

Things is though they seem to pride themselves on customer service. Other retailers only offer delivery to the door, which seems a bit off for a huge fridge but there we go. AO charge a premium for these extra services- but this is why I chose them.

Other retailers? I was talking about John Lewis. They won't dump a fridge at the front door.

    Another positive from me.

I had the same as Flicks - called me, offered me free disposal of my worn out washer (saved us dragging to the local tip) and tried to flog me insurance - turned him down but as he had already offered free disposal, still booked us in for this.

Called when they were 15mins away, delivered the new washer and took away the old one and the driver was very pleasant and happy.

We've used AO.com about five times now and always recommend them to friends.

I was merely pointing out that AO position themselves as more than just a basic cheap service retailer.

Sounds like the plan is not to pay for removal since they offer it for free anyway.

Sounds like I was unlucky with my bad experience with AO.

Sure fire way to ensure 'free' removal is to stick the object on your front lawn (making safe the doors of fridges/freezers) - someone always nicks it!

Good customer service from AO now for you paulfoel would be what they do about your complaint - be interesting, good luck.
Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.

The OP does seem to have rich tapestry of problems according to the threads they have started...I'm still not sure what this complaint is about, other than a wet floor and a grumpy delivery guy. The OP actually wasn't present on delivery and is complaining about it second hand? Maybe he can confirm he got what he paid for?

And with home help, car hire, flower resellers and hotels. A pattern emerging?

OMG. I think we need to tell the BBC of an emerging news story...

There's actually someone posting about poor service on a CONSUMER FORUM. Its scandalous that in this day and age that can happen. I'm so appalled I can't eat my cornflakes this morning.
