Iif you do compliment her make it something like how smart she looks or how well presented she is. Try and avoid the 'nice rack' type of comment. Mind you if she does have a decent rack and you don't need your job ...Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.0

Speak for yourself.
I'm a professional woman and I don't want or need a member of the opposite sex commenting on my looks.
I'm another one that wonders why you resurrected a dead thread.0 -

I'm in total agreement. Not all women love compliments. I don't. I don't need reassurance from other people about how well I look on any given day. I don't give a damn about whether my colleagues or bosses like the way I look. I make sure I meet the dress standard of the particular workplace, and any opinions beyond that are not of interest to me.
Totally baffled as to how someone can say "women love compliments" in the context of talking about appearances, and thinks she's speaking for all of us. What, can we not manage to get through a morning unless someone tells us how *fab* we look? Compliments about my appearance generally annoy me, no matter who they're from. That includes compliments from female colleagues, which I had quite a stream of from one particular female colleague in my last job. It was her way of making friends when she first started, and she wasn't gay, she was just dumb enough to think that constantly telling me how nice I looked was going to make me think she was wonderful (she ended up being the ringleader in a bullying ring that cost me my job, so do excuse me for calling her dumb).
A male boss or colleague complimenting me on my appearance would at the very least annoy the living sh*t out of me, and, at worst, freak the hell out of me, particularly if it was a boss. Possibly cos I used to have a boss who kept patting me on the leg. If I really liked a male colleague and the best he could come up with was that he liked my outfit, I'd be thoroughly disappointed that he thought I was sad enough to be won over by that. I would only be interested in a colleague who had an awful lot more to contribute to a conversation than that.
Yes, sorry, xapprenticex, I just couldn't help myself, and as another poster pointed out, you are going to a lot of trouble to make an attempt to compliment this woman so we all know where that is headed

Thanks, appreciate your post, some do and clearly some dont, its about getting to know them well enough to know if she is okay with it and whether you actually find the person attractive.sortofwinning wrote: »I'm in total agreement. Forgot about this!!
Wow you've had a lot of bad experiences there, sorry to hear that.
I mainly worked with women most of my working life so I've seen it all. Like i said to another lady at work this week who tried to make me blush "There's nothing you can do or say that will surprise or embarrass me", but I'm a guy and its never really bothered me, if you was aware of the things I've heard, seen and done...
As an update, I told her she was hawt and were getting married next month.
Being serious, I decided not to compliment her but instead, just continue as before, there is a bit more but I will not be going in to it because I could imagine it triggering some people, I'd rather keep some things to myself and its kinda identifying.
Thanks all.0
