What's your breed, and why?

My life wouldn't be complete without a GSD in it. Most intelligent, loyal and faithful breed I've ever owned as long as you don't mind sharing your entire life with one, including baths and showers :rotfl:
I've also owned Rotties and lurchers previously, both fantastic breeds but with completely different characters. I'm strictly a one dog woman now (for practical reasons) otherwise I wouldn't mind another lurcher or maybe even a little border terrier. They're incredibly cute and brave and will happily walk for miles.0 -
Dogue de Bordeauxs for 20+ years. I've always been a Mastiff lover but there's something unique about DDBs.
I have "downsized" a little & also have an English Bulldog.Always try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!0 -
Now GSDs scare me. Probably because the only time I've ever been close to one is at the wrong end of a police dog's lead. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
I have a GSD and an Italian Spinone. Both very different - the GSD is grown up and sensible, gentle as a lamb to dogs, children and people. The Spin is like owning the Village Idiot... I have owned Danes who were lovely but felt that as I was getting older I needed to get something smaller. Ended up with a 55kg GSD... oh well.0

And just in case you didn't follow my link to see what a trailhound was! here are the piccies- here's my trailie boy
and these three belonged to my friend who is in charge of rehoming (sadly Lottie on L no longer with us)
Just to say I pretty much like all dogs... but these are my favourites. I used to have a couple of friends with GSDs and until then I hadn't seen dogs playing! My old boy beagleX used to play madly with a young GSd twice his size: they loved each other!Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Bog standard moggies for me, currently got 2 jet black ones but not overly fussy on colour. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0

She is my first dog.
We find a lot of people assume she's a cockapoo with the 'sensible' hair cut, especially as she's not got her muzzle shaved short like a classic poodle. However people who actually know dogs know she's a 'proper poo'
I get the same, people come over oohing and aahing and asking 'is it a cockerpoo?' and they're astonished when I say no, just a poodle. Hardly anybody actually recognises his breed, even other people with poodles have sometimes got it wrong!
I always take chance to 'big up' the breed a bit, it helps that my rescue boy is into double figures now but still has the energy and fitness of a pup and people are also amazed at how old he is when I tell them.0 -
