As for cats, I don't think I mind too much, all pretty similar (in my opinion). I have Ragdolls at the minute but was brought up with a doll face Persian. Personality wise I'd say they were all quite similar and all beautiful!

I have a mini schnauzer, I wanted a smallish dog with a big personality and one on which coat shedding was minimal. He's as obstinate as hèll, hates posties, rowdy children and other dogs.

    (prev had springer and labs).

I love weimaraners, I rescued an oldie about 10 years ago, he was an amazing dog, felt cheated when he passed away after just 3 years with us. I now have a 6 year old loony which we've had from a pup, he's the best. I've had other breeds over the years but just love the Weimaraner so much. We also have a cockapoo, she's a little character and the 2 get on well, I would definitely recommend them as a family dog.
As for cats, we have 2 moggies a tuxedo boy and a grey girl that looks like a British blue but they're both rescued Ferrals. My cats are getting on now, if I was to loose them I think I would just go for whatever my local rescue needed homes for but with dogs, has to be a Weimaraner or either cockapoo or cocker spaniel.

I have a JRT x with a whippet (we think)

Parents had JRT's when i was growing up and so i felt comfortable having one. Had him 8 years from pup and still everyday he has his cuddles and wants his play.

We have 2 British short hair male cats Gizmo 8 and Dave 10 months and Georgie 5 a black and white tabby who is a bit of a snowflake.

Wouldn't be without any of them.

Had a persian (he was a stray, crawled under a bush in my garden to die) he was the only pedigree cat all the rest have been moggies.

Growing up had dachshund's I love em they are stubborn funny and generally very terrier like which lead's to now
When I have rescued JRTS they are full energy stubborn difficult to train and funny.

    Moggies.

I didn't choose to have cats.
My plonker of an ex-husband decided that I'd like a kitten as a surprise for Christmas (see what I mean by 'plonker'?).

This was despite me having been brought up with having dogs since I was 4 years old.

It came early, first week of December.
He put it down on the carpet and I said 'What's that and when is it going back to where it came from?'

Of course, I didn't mean it and within 4 months we had another 2 kittens.
42 years on, my old much-loved boy died 4 years ago and because of our circumstances we've not had another but we will do at some time in the future.

I realised some years ago that all the rescue dogs I'd had conformed to a particular type- short haired, tri coloured if possible and houndy shape. I have now found my wonder breed: Lakeland trailhounds. If you don't know them they are scent hounds and race over the Cumbrian fells- lovely natures and like being cuddle monsters.

Look here to read about the breed - dogs need new homes every year when their racing career ends :
The first story is about my dogs- Shyla & Shay and if you scroll down you can read about the original (and special) Katie hound. Shay has now passed his silver... Shyla not one bit interested!!

What a fab website, Katie. :T

Not heard of this breed before, they have a beagle-type face, I think.

Has someone reported some posts - can't understand why they've gone AWOL?
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Removed loads of posts from mine and it was just the usual suspect joinin to tell me I'm a drama lama so didn't offend or upset me at all.
