If it is decriminalised then perhaps prostitutes will have to start paying tax. Good. I doubt that arresting them actually deters them for long anyway.

And we need all the tax we can get.

I don't see the relation at all, between prioritizing issues and having redundancy for a staff member that's suddenly unavailable?

1: HMRC would be living on cloud 9 if they thought they would get taxes from prostitution, it is clearly a cash business be it legal or not.

2: This was not a post about prostitution but a comparison to what government want to do (as they say ... immediately for soliciting)
so ..... they continue with the great parking scam ?

Not sure where "and having redundancy for a staff member that's suddenly unavailable?" is part of this, please explain

...and, like you I am careful where I park, always paying for tickets etc when required and never got a ticket...

Until this time when I stopped to unload my car. I looked carefully for any signs before doing this. Couldn't see any signs but got stung with a PCN a week later. I hope you don't one day get caught out by these robbers like I did... I hope you don't have the misfortune to get double dipped by Parking Eye, enter a typo into your car reg on the pay and display ticket, your purchased ticket get blown off the dash on a windy day etc etc etc.

Again, this cash cow by Parking Eye

Prostitution is the oldest profession. If it's only now the Government are getting around to dealing with it, it's going to be some time before they get around to the private parking 'profession'.

    Don't hold yer breath!
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

If it legal, then why not tax it? I believe the states where it's legalised in the US tax it.Whether accounts will be accurately recorded is another matter - I doubt many people would want to use their credit cards.

I don't follow. You're annoyed that the government is doing something about something that isn't parking? They'd most likely be different departments, anyway.

That's essentially the "big red bus" theory, as I understand it. Are we talking at cross purposes? What did you mean by it?

Guess if you can find a way to tax cash transactions with no receipts, you could be the next chancellor, seems the job maybe up for grabs

As I keep saying it is a comparison. One they can do, the other they can't ? Of course there are different departments but only one government. Maybe the dept that wants to legalise prostitution use their services, who knows, Clearly the dept who is looking at PPC's are simply not doing their job in the interests of the public

You said "It's less of a nuisance than people worried about being murdered at work"
The Big red bus theory is that ... any day, any time, you, me could be run over by a big red bus

I know it is, but what's that got to do with anything? Anyone could get hit by a bus at any time, but that's unrelated to both issues here.

If you get a parking ticket, you'll get some hassle and distress, but you'll ultimately be unscathed.

If you work in an unregulated and illegal industry, or use said industry, there's a real risk of real physical harm. Can you comprehend why the 2 situations aren't equal?

    Timing.

I would far rather that this came to be debated oir acted on when all the dust re Party Elections for leader, and Brexit initial negotiations were under way. There will be a Govt reshuffle and we need to see who will be the relevant minister.

Committee reports are one thing but they are just that. Do we want it all slowed down by having long committee stages? I believe that John Chilcot is available if needed.

    You've completely lost me.

So girls at work shouldn't worry about being murdered or beaten by their clients/managers (a real threat), because they might just get hit by a bus anyway (an unlikely occurance)?

I don't think we're in any disagreement about the parking weasels, but there's no way the 2 industries are comparible.
